A. The Association will have input into the formation of the school calendar.
B. Teachers will not be required to attend and shall suffer no penalty when student presence in a particular building is not required due to inclement weather or emergency situations as determined by the District. In such situations, the missed day or days may be made up at the discretion of the District.
C. The teacher work year for which the attached salary schedules apply shall be for the hourly equivalent of 190 eight (8) hour days (1520 hours) and shall not be more than the hourly equivalent of 190 eight (8) hour days (Not including a duty free lunch). The days shall include: at minimum 150 nine (9) hour student contact days, two (2) inservice (Professional Development) days, six and one-half (6 ½) workdays, and five (5) paid holidays. 4. High school students will attend only half days on the last two (2) student days of each trimester/semester: the other half of these days shall be work time for the staff, free of administrative meetings.
5. Presidents’ Day, Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Xxxx Xxx, the state-wide October day, and the day after Thanksgiving shall be non-contract days.
6. The 191st work day for new teachers shall be paid at the curriculum rate for the total number of hours required to work on that day.
B. The proposed calendar(s), or subsequent revision of the same, shall be forwarded to the Association President for review and recommendations at least thirty (30) days prior to presentation to the Board, except in cases of emergency.
C. The normal working days for teachers shall consist of seven and three-quarters (7 ¾) consecutive hours, thirty (30) minutes of which shall be a continuous duty-free lunch period. At least thirty-five (35) minutes will be allowed between the ending bell for the class period before lunch period and the beginning bell for the class period following the lunch period. In exchange for fifteen (15) minutes of release time each Friday or the day before holidays or vacations, teachers shall stay beyond their regularly-scheduled end of workday for a total of one (1) hour per month, scheduled in administrator-called meetings. Teachers unable to leave early on Friday, due to administrative circumstance, are allowed to come in 15 minutes late, or leave 15 minutes early at some other time with proper communication with their principals.
D. INCLEMENT WEATHER Teacher attendance shall not be required when student attendance is not required because of inclement weather or other emergency circumstances. The District may require teachers to make ...
WORK YEAR/WORKDAY. The school calendar will be collaboratively negotiated between the District and the WAE. The employee contracted work year will 181 days for returning staff and 182 days* for employees new to the District. The base contract is 180 days (181 days for employees new to Washougal), and any state-funded Learning Improvement Days are added to that base as mandatory non-student days. Learning Improvement Days, equally divided between building and District direction, must be used for activities related to improving student learning consistent with educational reform implementation (and consistent with state law). In addition, all 180 day per diem references throughout the Collective Bargaining Agreement are modified to include all state-funded Learning Improvement Days. *This number adjusts to reflect the actual number of state funded teacher contract days for returning Washougal employees and that number +1 for new Washougal employees. The employees per diem will be determined by dividing annual salary by the number of state funded employee days.
WORK YEAR/WORKDAY. Unless specified at the time of employment, all Administrative Assistant positions are full-time for a twelve-month period. All salaries are stated as a yearly total rather than an hourly rate. The following definitions are provided to clarify issues associated with salary.
WORK YEAR/WORKDAY. The school calendar shall consist of 188 days, of which at least 176 will be student attendance days, and at least four (4) of which will be institute days. Two (2) of these student attendance days will be conference days. Five (5) days will be reserved as emergency days. Unused emergency days shall not become workdays for Teachers. For their initial year of employment only, new full-time regular Teachers’ work-years will consist of 190 days. New Teachers shall be required to attend school two (2) days before the beginning of the school year institute days and will participate in orientation activities related to their employment.
WORK YEAR/WORKDAY. A. Ten (10) month licensed teaching assistants’ work year shall be the same as the work year for teachers including Superintendent’s Conference Days. Eleven (11) month and twelve (12) month licensed teaching assistants shall work additional days as required by the District.
B. Elementary school shall have a 6 hour work day plus 1 hour duty free lunch to be scheduled to begin no sooner than 10:45 AM and end no later than 2:00 pm every five (5) out of six (6) day cycle. Unit members in elementary school buildings shall be assigned to one 30-minute lunchtime supervision duty per 6-day cycle. The High School and Middle Schools shall have a six (6) hour and fifteen minute work day plus a 45 minute duty free lunch to be scheduled to begin no sooner than 10:45 AM and end no later than 2:00 PM. The District shall have the right to alter hours subject to collective bargaining.
C. Generally, each licensed teaching assistant assigned to provide direct student instruction and other student support services will be given one hundred forty (140) minutes per week of time free from student supervision to use for collaborating with teachers and preparation for their professional duties.
D. In the event that the professional and/or supervisory services of a licensed teaching assistant are required extending the workday and/or work year, said work shall be paid at time and one-half (1.5). A licensed teaching assistant shall be paid the per diem hourly rate of their contractual wages for work in programs that occur outside the workday.
E. After the required number of faculty meetings are attended (4 mtgs./year), the building principal may approve a unit member to attend more than four (4) faculty meetings for compensation. To receive compensation, a LTA extra hour form must be submitted to the principal for approval. Compensation shall be at the member’s regular rate of pay.
F. A licensed teaching assistant shall be paid the per diem rate of their contractual wages for summer work, including summer school and professional development. Acceptance of summer work shall be voluntary.
G. A licensed teaching assistant shall be paid the per diem hourly rate of their contractual wages for voluntary work during the lunch hour up to the following maximum hourly rate:

B. Part-Time Employees Part-time employees are defined as those employees regularly scheduled to work less than a thirty-five (35)-hour week. Hours for part time employees shall be determined at the discretion of the Superintendent.
