Professional Work Day. The County recognizes the professionalism of the employees represented by the Association. Such salaried employees current compensation includes compensation for periods of authorized absence from work of less than one (1) full regularly scheduled work day and such absences shall not be charged against any leave balances. Absences from work for less than one (1) full day require pre-approved authorization, either orally or in writing, by the Appointing Authority or the Appointing Authority’s designee. Under extenuating circumstances, authorization must be obtained immediately following the absence.
Professional Work Day. A. The usual workday will consist of not more than eight (8) hours.
B. Included in the work day will be a scheduled lunch period of not less than thirty (30) minutes when employees are not available for conferences with students or parents or for supervision unless an emergency requires supervision (for example: fire casualty, injury to a student, sudden illness or injury to a supervisor on duty, or temporary situations involving the safety of students).
C. By August 1, the building principal will share with employees the dates of Parent-Teacher Conferences and Parent Engagement Events. Attendance will be required unless excused by the building principal.
D. Employees will be permitted to leave their buildings immediately after dismissal of students, on the day of their buildings’ Open Houses or Meet the Teacher Nights, on the last workday prior to Labor Day, Thanksgiving, winter break, spring break, and Memorial Day, unless otherwise assigned (i.e. student supervision or emergency situation). The staff will be dismissed at the regular student dismissal time, if a scheduled collaboration day or Semester exam day falls on one of the days listed above.
E. Employees will be permitted to leave their buildings fifteen (15) minutes after the early dismissal of students due to inclement weather conditions.
F. Certified employees may be required to remain after the usual workday for the purpose of attending faculty or other meetings that an Administrator may require in his/her discretion. Other meetings may be scheduled by the principal according to need.
G. Employees who are offered and accept night school, summer school, or administrator pre- approved outside the contract day hourly work will be paid at the rate of $37.00 per hour.
H. Employees assigned to teach more than six (6) of eight periods daily at the secondary level, or said equivalent, will receive, for each added period, an additional 14% of the employee’s base for the length of time such an assignment is in effect. Assignments for less than twelve weeks will not be subject to this provision.
I. An employee assigned by the administration to teach a class for another teacher during the employee’s non-instructional/non-supervisory time, for a time not to exceed two hours, will be paid at the rate of $20.00 per hour.
Professional Work Day. 9.1.1 A school is comprised of a team of certificated professionals working toward the educational excellence of all students who attend the school. The Superintendent, with the input of unit members and Administrators of the schools to which unit members are assigned, shall determine the educational needs of the schools. The Superintendent shall determine the schedule and make necessary assignments of schedules and supervision of duties which will ensure the safety of students attending the school. Unit members shall devote as much time as is necessary to fulfill professional duties to facilitate the educational program. Duties shall be assigned on an equitable basis. Unless the task requires it, the unit member is not required to perform the work on campus.
9.1.2 The work day shall be seven (7) hours of duty assignment, excluding a thirty (30) minute duty free lunch (forty-five (45) minutes, scheduling permitting), and excluding field trips scheduled by the unit member as part of his/her instructional program. These field trips, under the terms of the agreement, shall be recognized as an agreed-to extension of the regular work day for the scheduling unit member.
Professional Work Day. 1. The teacher work day is a flexible additional thirty minutes outside of the student contact day with a minimum of at least 10 minutes before and 10 minutes after. The remaining 10 minutes will be at the discretion of the teacher.
2. Each teacher will be guaranteed a minimum of forty (40) minutes for planning time each day, outside of all other duty-free mandates or district job assignment. Administration is directed to give each teacher no less than thirty (30) minutes consecutively. If only thirty (30) minutes are given at a time, the teacher will receive no less than two- thirty (30) minute slots per day or an equivalent to that amount of time during the work week.
3. When a teacher is required to substitute for another teacher, reimbursement will be determined in the following manner:
a. The teacher will be expected to substitute for another teacher up to five hours free of reimbursement. Thereafter, that teacher will receive compensation equal to a prorated substitute’s salary with the first paycheck of the month.
b. Record keeping will be up to the individual teacher with validation by the building principal or principal’s representative before the end of that pay period.
Professional Work Day. 1. The practice of the Pupil Personnel profession in the public school systems is not susceptible to a fixed schedule of hours; however, the orderly administration of the public schools does require some parameters. It is recognized that due to the nature of the duties of the Pupil Personnel profession the work week may include duties required to be performed during hours extra to the regular instructional week. At the same time, unit members shall have access to flexible work hours during a portion of the instructional day with advanced notice when possible between the unit member and site administrator. The intent of the District and the CVPPA is to recognize that Pupil Personnel professionals work an eight
Professional Work Day. It is recognized by both the District and the Association that the job of teaching varies from day-to-day and that, in addition to teaching during the regular instructional day, teachers are also required to perform other duties during their professional work day.
1. By way of illustration, these other professional duties include all activities required by law as well as those duties historically performed within the District.
2. These professional duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Faculty meetings, department meetings, curriculum meetings, program-project or District meetings, parent conferences (at home or school), back-to-school night, open house, athletic and social events, field trips, school committee meetings, the supervision of organized student groups, the supervision of students immediately prior to and after the students' day and yard duty.
3. Professional duties set forth in C.1. and C.2. will be equitably assigned by the school administrator according to the needs of the school.
Professional Work Day. The professional work day shall reflect the following concepts and principles:
a. Professional work days are Monday through Friday during the school term, excluding holiday and vacation periods, and the days provided for in e. below. The school term is set by school calendar and includes emergency days until the Board determines that the days are not needed.
b. The Board shall have the sole discretion in determining the starting and ending times of the instructional day for students. Except in unique circumstances, teachers are generally expected to teach from “bell to bell” within the instructional day for students.
c. Teachers will be present before and after the student instructional day a sufficient amount of time to fulfill all of their professional responsibilities each day. Teacher professional responsibilities immediately before and after the student instructional day include participation in staff in-service activities, building, and student-related meetings. Professional responsibilities include two (2) evening activities assigned by the principal after consultation with the staff and other voluntary evening activities as mutually agreed by the affected staff members and the principal.
d. The five (5) days prior to when grades are due each trimester shall be free from scheduled meetings, unless otherwise determined by the Coordinating Council. This includes all building and District meetings.
e. For (5) days immediately following the close of the school term and the five (5) days immediately preceding the start of the next school term, teachers may be required to work up to a maximum of five (5) of these days. The hourly rate specified in Section 9.2 shall be paid for this work. The work performed during these periods shall be curriculum-related work. Teachers who will be working during these periods will be notified by April 1 of the given year.
f. Ad hoc work groups may be formed in order to provide opportunities for collaboration and feedback with administration to advance the District’s Strategic Plan. They shall be open to all members on a voluntary basis and meet less than three (3) times. If the group decides that ongoing work is needed a PAC activity proposal can be created and/or an administrator can suggest formation of a committee with oversight by Coordinating Council.

Professional Work Day. A. Hours of employment shall adhere to the following guidelines:
a. OUEA bargaining unit members will work hours consistent with the collective bargaining agreement regardless of instructional model.
b. OUEA bargaining unit members shall perform job functions reasonably similar to his/her regular assignment.
B. Teachers will take student attendance daily as directed by administration.
C. Teachers will attest to the instructional minutes through weekly recording and reporting of live instruction and assigned work.
D. Teachers will collaborate with school administration of addressing excessive student absences to administration as set forth in Exhibit E.
Professional Work Day. To extend professional courtesy to both the District and AEA certified educators, the workday will be based on individual certified educators’ and student needs. The certified educator workday shall be eight (8) hours inclusive of a duty-free one-half-hour lunch period. The designated reporting time and leaving time for teachers may vary between buildings according to the schedules for instruction and school activities as approved by the principal. Alternative schedules shall be initiated by the certified educator or the principal and agreed upon by both parties. Any change from the professional workday would be determined as needed. Approval must be obtained from the building administrator or their designee when certified educators need to leave their school during regular class hours. The student contact day shall not exceed six hours and forty minutes for elementary school, and seven hours for middle and high school. All meetings (for example staff meetings, data teams, IEP meetings) are the professional responsibility of certified educators. Administrators shall schedule meetings a minimum of two (2) weeks in advance and be cognizant of meeting prep time requirements. Professional learning communities will meet for sixty (60) minutes during weekly early release time.
