TEACHING HOURS AND TEACHING LOADS. A. All teachers shall register entry by using the designated procedure by 7:30 am and be at their assigned duties by 7:35 am. It is further agreed by the Committee and the Association that the past practice relative to 7:30 am assignment shall continue. Teachers shall register their exit by the same means no earlier than 2:45 pm except on those days when teachers are assigned to other duties. Each teacher will be assigned one afternoon per week when he/she shall remain until 3:30 pm for make-up work/extra help for students, parent meetings, curriculum work, TEAM meetings or other educational purposes. This day will be determined in consultation with the immediate supervisor. Teachers shall schedule students for these sessions. If a Unit A member is absent, best efforts will be made to obtain a substitute in every area. The Athletic Director may have a reduced teaching load consisting of at least four (4) teaching periods per day. The workday of the LPN Program Instructors shall be seven and one-quarter (7 ¼) hours per day. LPN Instructors shall register their entry and exit by using the designated procedure whenever they enter and exit the Upper Cape Cod Vocational Technical School and will maintain a log of their attendance when at other work sites.
B. Common Planning Time: On regular work days between 2:15 pm and 2:45 pm, teachers may be involved in Cluster or Departmental activities which shall be initiated by the appropriate

D. Consecutive classes for classroom teachers; Academic teachers required to teach four (4) or more consecutive periods without an interruption will be provided with a ten (10) minute break upon their request. Whenever an LPN Instructor is assigned to a clinical site, they shall receive the preparation and administrative time provided by this section at the end of the workday.

1. The workday for teachers shall be: M, T, R, F W (Regular) W (Systemwide) High School: 7 hrs., 30 min. 7 hrs., 35 min. 8 hrs., 30 min. Middle School: 7 hrs., 20 min. 7 hrs., 25 min. 8 hrs., 15 min. Elementary: 7 hrs. 7 hrs., 5 min. 7 hrs., 15 min. In the event that a building’s hours of operation are going to be different from the hours of operation in effect as of June 30, 2004, the teachers in that building shall be notified of the change preferably by January 31, but no later than March 1 of the school year prior to the change. Wednesday Inservice Workshops will be scheduled to begin within 15 minutes after the close of the student day and will last for no more than 90 minutes provided, however, that up to ten such days may involve systemwide programs which will be scheduled to begin 15 minutes after the latest school closing and will end no later than 3:45pm. The last day of the school year at the elementary level shall be an early release day schedule, except that the COMMITTEE has the option of scheduling a full day, rather than an early release day, on the Wednesday immediately preceding the last day of school. The Superintendent of Schools will designate five (5) inservice days at the Claypit Hill, Happy Hollow, and Xxxxx Schools for “school-based grade level and curriculum planning meetings.” Every reasonable effort will be made to schedule these days in five different months of the school year. One additional inservice Wednesday in the fall and one in the spring will be designated for parent-teacher conferences at the elementary level for a total of 10.5 hours for each parent-teacher conference cycle in the fall and in the spring.
2. No teacher shall be required to remain in the school building beyond the times specified above, except that on days preceding a holiday (when school is not scheduled), on the Friday before a Monday holiday, and on the Friday or day before school vacation, h/she may leave thirty (30) minutes earlier. These times may be modified by the COMMITTEE (up to thirty [30] minutes), provided that in no case shall the length of the teacher workday be extended.
3. Teachers other than classroom teachers will work at their assigned tasks for at least the length of the classroom teacher’s workday. It is recognized, however, that the proper performance of their duties may require them to work a workday that is longer than the classroom teacher’s workday. TEACHING HOURS AND TEACHING LOADS. 10.1 The District and the Association recognize and agree that the teachers' responsibility to their students and their profession generally entails the performance of duties and the expenditure of time beyond the normal working day, but that teachers are entitled to regular time and work schedules on which they can rely and which will be fairly and evenly maintained under normal circumstances throughout the school system.
10.2 In an emergency, but not to exceed one period at the Elementary Level and one period at the Secondary Level per day, teachers may be required to supervise another teacher's class during their administration or preparation period. No additional compensation will be paid during an administrative period. Teachers assigned to supervise during a preparation period will be compensated at the rate of eighteen and 50/100 ($18.50) dollars per period. In instances where the principal determines that teaching is required, the teachers will be compensated at a rate of twenty two and 50/100 ($22.50) dollars per period. Compensation received under this section will not constitute "regular compensation" for retirement purposes. Compensation received under this section will be for the duration of the CBA.
10.2.1 Assignments will be made on a rotational basis with all the professional teaching staff on the list.
10.2.2 All assignments will be made in a fair and equitable manner; provided that the Association acknowledges that because assignments are a matter of management discretion, assignments are not subject to the grievance process.
10.3.1 Teachers whose students are seniors may be used as substitutes after dismissal of seniors at the High School.

TEACHING HOURS AND TEACHING LOADS. The School Committee and the Association recognizes and agrees that a teacher’s responsibility to his/her students and his/her profession generally entails the performance of duties and the expenditure of time beyond the regular work day, but that time and work schedules can and should be established applicable to teachers in the normal course of their employment. To this end, the following conditions of employment shall be effective except in circumstances beyond the control of the School Department in the administration of this Contract.
TEACHING HOURS AND TEACHING LOADS. A. The High School and Middle School educators’ day will be for a length of seven (7) hours per day to include five (5) minutes before the start of the student school day and ten (10) minutes after the end of the student school day. The normal educator day will be from 7:25 A.M. to 2:25 P.M. Educators will be in their classroom prepared to perform their professional duties on time.
B. The elementary educators’ day will be for a length of seven (7) hours per day to include ten (10) minutes after the end of the student school day. The normal educator day will be from 8:35 A.M. to 3:35 P.M. Educators will be in their classroom prepared to perform their professional duties on time.
C. The Superintendent may designate a position for a work day or work year that differs from the regularly scheduled educator’s day or year. The work day or year for such a position will not exceed the number of hours (hours will be consecutive) in the work day or number of days in the work year of an educator at that level. The hours for an educator on a flexible schedule shall remain the same for the duration of the school year. The Superintendent will make every effort to use vacancies to fill such positions. If that is not possible, an educator must be notified by April 1st that he/she is being displaced to create a flexible schedule position. An educator may volunteer for such a schedule change after the April 1st deadline. Middle and High School educators on an early flexible schedule are required to stay two (2) days a month to provide help to students after school. Educators on early and late schedules shall not be required to attend after school meetings but shall be required to obtain information from those meetings.
D. The work year for educators will consist of one hundred eighty (180) teaching days. There will be an additional four

B. Teachers may leave the building with the knowledge of the Administration during their scheduled duty-free lunch period or preparation period.
C. 1. Faculty meetings shall be limited to two (2) per month. The Board will notify staff at the start of the school year two (2) Mondays during the month on which the meetings will be scheduled. If there is a need to reschedule a Monday meeting to a Monday not originally scheduled, the administration shall provide at least one week’s advance notice of the change. These meetings shall not exceed one (1) hour in length. Said additional meetings shall be of the same duration as other scheduled meetings and shall not be held immediately before or after other scheduled meetings.

1. The school day for professional employees shall not exceed seven and one-half (7 ½) consecutive hours per day and thirty-seven and one-half (37 ½) hours per week.
2. No professional employee shall be required to report for work earlier than one-half (½) hour prior to the time students arrive, nor work later than one-half (½) hour after students depart, unless assigned to bus or special duty, attending department head/grade level lead meetings or in the event of reasonable emergencies.
3. Department Heads may meet after school up to six (6) building meetings a year and up to three (3) district level meetings a year. The after-school Department Head meetings will not exceed an hour per meeting at the building level and will not exceed two (2) hours per meeting at the district level. Department Heads will be selected by volunteers who may be interviewed by a panel of four Administrators.
