Union Representation and Activities. 6.01 The Employer acknowledges the right of the Union to appoint or otherwise select Employees as representatives.
6.02 The Union agrees that no Employee or group of Employees shall undertake to represent the Union to the Employer without proper authorization of the Union. To this end, the Union shall provide the Employer, in writing, and on the Union’s website, with the names and position titles of its Officers and the names and jurisdiction of its Local Representatives, as well as the name of its Regional Representative.
6.03 The Employer shall provide the Union, in writing, with the names and position titles of those in Faculty Relations and in Human Resources who are responsible for liaison with the Union; and with the names of Deans of Faculties, or equivalent. Both parties shall provide updates or changes of the above representatives as they occur.
6.04 The Union shall determine the jurisdiction of each representative.
6.05 The Employer shall ensure that new Employees are provided with the list cited in 6.02 and the Union’s website URL.
6.06 Duly authorized representatives of the Union shall be permitted to transact official business of the Bargaining Unit with members of the Bargaining Unit or with official representatives of the Employer on University property, provided such business does not interfere with the normal operations of the University.
6.07 A Union representative shall be entitled to up to thirty (30) paid minutes at the conclusion of each New Employee Orientation Session held by Human Resources to meet a newly hired Employee and provide information about the Collective Agreement and the Union.
6.08 The Employer shall convene at least two Postdoctoral Orientation Sessions in each calendar year. A Union Representative shall be entitled to up to fifteen (15) minutes during such orientation sessions to provide an overview of the role of the Union.
6.09 Employees covered by this Collective Agreement shall be entitled to convene a meeting with the Faculty Supervisor to discuss any aspect of their employment performance or working conditions, with Union representation, with at least twenty- four (24) hours’ notice.

Within thirty (30) days of the signing of this Contract, the Union shall submit to the Superintendent the names of its authorized representatives who will be transacting official union business. In the event that there should be additions or deletions, they shall be forwarded to the Superintendent immediately.
B. Authorized representatives of the Union may use school facilities at such time that they do not interfere with school activities, provided the authorized representatives have been given such permission and assignment of space by the principal or work location managerial representative, and granted approval by the Superintendent. The Union shall indemnify and save the Board harmless against and from any and all claims, demands, suites, or other forms of liability that may arise out of or by reason of action taken, or not taken by the Board for the purposes of complying with this request.
C. 1. The Union President and/or Vice Presidents who work for the School Board may request a combined total and receive up to twelve (12) days, six (6) unpaid and six (6) paid, leave per year for him/her, to engage in union business which cannot be performed other than during the normal work day. Such leave may be taken in hourly increments, whole day increments, or in half day increments if it is agreeable to employee’s Supervisor. Written request for such leave must be made to the employee’s supervisor at least forty-eight (48) hours in advance. (Ratified 9/2014)

5.07 A Union representative shall be entitled to up to fifteen (15) minutes to provide an overview of the role of the Union at any University-wide orientation for Employees in this Bargaining Unit as long as the Union activity does not conflict with the Employee‟s Scheduled Work duties. The Employer will notify the Union at least thirty (30) Calendar Days before such an orientation session is being held. In addition, if individual Departments hold TA and TF employment orientation sessions, the Union may request a similar opportunity to present at that orientation session and agreement to that request shall be at the discretion of the Department holding the orientation session.
Union Representation and Activities. Section 1 - Representation
A. From employees in the bargaining unit, the Union shall select a reasonable number of union stewards. The Union shall furnish and keep an up-to-date list of all such employees authorized to act as stewards to the Board. In addition, the Union shall furnish and keep an up-to-date list of Union Staff Representatives and Local 850 Officers to the Board.
B. Whenever Union representation is requested by an employee, the representative shall be so selected and designated by the Union.
X. Xxxxxxxx who are designated by the Union shall be selected according to the following general guidelines:
1. One
(1) xxxxxxx at each facility or work location which has a supervisor who has the authority to settle grievances.
2. Where more than one shift is required there may be one (1) xxxxxxx per shift.
3. If the number of employees on a particular shift, or in a work location, exceeds fifty (50) employees, an additional xxxxxxx may be selected; however, when selecting stewards at such work location, consideration shall be given to restricted areas, number of work units, and other factors unique to that installation or facility.
4. After having requested and been given prior approval from the Principal or Worksite Supervisor, the xxxxxxx or a local union officer will be allowed time to represent bargaining unit members at grievance conferences with the supervisor during regular work hours without loss of pay or benefits. The xxxxxxx or local union officer will secure approval of the Principal or Worksite Supervisor in the area where the grievance is to be investigated and will conduct the investigation in a way that does not interfere with Board operations.
5. Stewards, Local officers, and other Local representatives shall have permission to examine an employee's file as permitted by Florida Statutes.
Section 2 - Bulletin Boards
A. Where Board controlled bulletin boards are available, the Board agrees to provide space on such bulletin boards for Union use. Where bulletin boards are not available, the Board agrees to provide such boards. The Board and AFSCME will conduct an inventory of bulletin boards to assure compliance with this article and appropriate placement of the bulletin boards.
B. Posting of Union literature shall be confined to Union bulletin boards, and these boards shall be used for the following notices:
1. Recreational and social affairs of the Union
2. Union meetings
3. Union elections
4. Reports of Union committees

The Office of the Xxxxxxx will notify the Union when an orientation session has been scheduled where a Union representative could be present.
5.08 No later than September 30 of each year, the Employer shall pay the Local Union, in one (1) lump sum, the minimum value of four (4) three (3) credit Courses to assist the Local Union in the administration of the Agreement. The Local Union shall have full discretion in how these funds are allotted to its members or member representatives. This sum is inclusive of the Employer’s contribution to the PSAC Social Justice Fund and the PSAC Local 000555 Hardship Fund.
Union Representation and Activities. 2.01 Union Staff Representatives Union representatives who are not Employees shall be authorized to speak for the Union in all matters governed by this Agreement and shall be permitted to visit work areas with prior notice to and approval by the Department Head responsible for the work area to be visited. The Union shall provide a list of names of the Union Representatives to the Employer.
Union Representation and Activities. A. The College recognizes the right of the Union to designate a Xxxxxxx and/or Committeeperson(s). Such representatives must be employees of the College who meet the requirements of the Union. The authority of the Xxxxxxx and Committeeperson(s) shall be limited to and shall not exceed the provisions outlined in this Article. There shall be only one (1) Xxxxxxx at any given time.
B. The Union agrees that it will certify to the College the names of newly elected and/or appointed Xxxxxxx and Committeemen during the term of this Agreement. Such a Xxxxxxx and Committeemen shall not be entitled to exercise their respective functions as herein described until the College has been so notified.
C. The duties and activities of the Xxxxxxx and Committeeperson(s) shall be as follows:
1. To investigate and present grievances in accordance with the provisions of this Agreement.
2. To serve as a collective bargaining committee.
3. To transmit such messages and information which shall originate with and are authorized by the Union, provided such messages and information:
a. have been reduced to writing, or
b. if not reduced to writing, are of a routine nature and do not involve work stoppages, slowdowns, refusal to handle goods, or any other interference with the operation of the College.
D. The College will provide bulletin boards which may be used by the Union for posting notices approved by the College and limited to:

6.03 The University agrees to allow the Union to hold meetings and conduct Union business in the University outside the working hours of the employees attending. It is also agreed that the University will assign, when required and if possible, a suitable room to the Union for this purpose.
6.04 The University agrees to provide the Union use of space on existing bulletin boards for the purpose of posting official Union information relating to union affairs, meetings, and social events, subject to University Policy.
6.05 The University Agrees to make reasonable effort to provide the Union with an office. The office will be furnished with chairs, a meeting table and filing cabinet. The University will also provide and cover the costs of a phone line (toll denied) and set and a computer network connection.
6.06 Duly Authorized representatives of the Union shall be permitted to transact official business of the Union with members of the Union or with official representatives of the University, on University Property, provided such business shall not interfere with the normal operations of the University.
6.07 The Employer shall convene two (2) orientation sessions in each academic year for Employees. A union representative shall be entitled to up to sixty (60) minutes to provide an overview of the role of the Union following the orientation session.
6.08 Employees shall be advised by the Employer that they are entitled to Union representation to discuss disputes and disagreement about their employment working conditions, discipline, and grievances. Upon request, an employee shall be granted said representation.

The Union agrees to advise the management representative of the nature of its business and, where the Union seeks to contact an employee during the employee’s work time, the Union will identify the employee.
