TEACHER EMPLOYMENT. 1. A teacher upon being hired from another system shall be entitled to transfer any number of sick days previously accumulated in that system at the recommendation of the Superintendent, but final agreement of the Board of Education upon hiring.
2. Teachers who are required to use their own automobile in the performance of their duties outside the school district may be reimbursed based on mileage guidelines based on regulations (current rate- $0.31 per mile) in effect on July 1 of the contract year per mile from the starting school or home, whichever may be closer. it is understood that travel expenses to district workshops, seminars, and other special meetings will not be reimbursed.
3. It is understood that the Superintendent of Schools be given bargaining privileges when hiring incoming teachers, commensurate with years of experience, but is contingent upon final agreement by the Board upon hiring.
4. No teacher shall be required to attend any school activities outside of the normal teaching hours, without adequate compensation, such compensation to be determined through negotiations between the Board and the Association.
5. Teachers employed subsequent to the ninetieth (90) students’ attendance day of any school year shall receive no credit for their employment period through June 30th of that year. Employees hired on or before the ninetieth (90) students’ attendance day shall receive full credit for experience for that teaching year. Should a teacher not receive the increment based upon this provision, he shall be placed on the same step at which he was employed and shall be paid in accordance with the rate of pay as specified for that step on the teachers’ guide in effect for that contract period.
6. Newly hired employees will be required to attend two days of new staff orientation. Attendees will not receive additional compensation for these two days of orientation. Employees hired after new staff orientation will be required to attend identified segments of new staff orientation the following year. These employees will receive hourly compensation at the current contractual rate for staff development/participant. The orientation days will be scheduled no earlier than five days before the first day of the school year.
TEACHER EMPLOYMENT. A. Credit will be recognized for a maximum of four (4) years military experience or a maximum of four (4) years alternative civilian service required by the Selective Service System. Credit, not to exceed two (2) years will be recognized for Peace Corps, VISTA or National Teacher Training Corps work. No credit will be given for less than a full year of service.
B. Teachers with previous teaching experience in the Xxxxx Township School District may upon returning to the system receive up to full credit for such experience in the district plus full credit on the salary schedule for all outside teaching experience, military experience or alternative civilian service required by the Selective Service System. Peace Corps, VISTA or National Teacher Training Corps work up to the maximum set forth in Section A above.
C. Teachers shall be notified of their contract and salary status for the ensuing year in accordance with State Law.
D. Whenever possible, the Board agrees to employ only those teachers who meet the qualifications set by the State.
E. In accordance with Article I.B.2 herein, all benefits set forth in this Agreement shall be prorated proportionately unless specifically stated otherwise.
F. Unless otherwise altered by legislation, the fee paid to a teacher for mentoring a provisionally certified teacher shall be $550 per school year. Mentors shall be required to meet with their assigned mentees a minimum of 20 times per school year during which time they will observe lessons, offer assistance through recommendations and other strategies, provide demonstrations, keep a mentoring log of mentor/mentee interactions, and attend any training meetings provided for the purpose of improving the mentoring process. In the event the state does not fully fund the state mandated mentoring fee, any newly hired teacher who does not possess a standard New Jersey Certificate shall be required to pay said mentoring fee. Under such circumstances, the requisite fee shall be deducted in equal payments from the teacher’s biweekly paychecks.
TEACHER EMPLOYMENT. 8.1. The Board agrees to employ only those teachers who hold at least a bachelors degree from an accredited college or university and are certifiable by the New Hampshire State Department of Education. This provision shall not apply in the instance where the availability of personnel is critical and an appropriate waiver is granted by the New Hampshire State Department of Education.
8.2 Teachers shall not be assigned outside the scope of their teacher certification and major or minor field of study except temporarily and for good cause.
8.3 For purposes of this Agreement, the period of service shall not be more than one hundred eighty-nine (189) days, to be allocated as follows: Regular School Days 180 Pre-School Year Faculty Meetings 1 Parent-Teacher Conferences 2 Teacher In-Service 3 Teacher Planning Days 2 Professional Development Day 1 Total Contract Days 189 The agenda for the Teacher Planning Days will be set by the teaching staff in each building, and shall be used for teachers to plan curriculum and/or curriculum development only. The Teacher Planning Days will be scheduled either immediately prior to the first day of school, during the school year, and/or after the last day of school, but no later than June 30. The Professional Development Day shall be scheduled in the fall and devoted to any activity that furthers the individual teacher’s Staff Development Plan. Parent- Teacher Conferences will be scheduled to accommodate and meet the needs of parents. Two (2) weeks notice will be given for make-up days. Teachers new to the District may be required to report one extra day.
8.4 Teachers employed by the District will be given an individual contract (See Appendix C attached hereto) each year of their employment. The contract will include teaching assignment, years of service, tenured status and annual salary. Tenure will be issued according to NH RSA 189:14-a. The notice of employment shall require that teachers certify they hold a valid New Hampshire certificate, license, or permit to teach. The Board agrees to pay for the State mandated recertification fee. The individual contract shall be subject to and consistent with the terms and conditions of this Agreement.
8.5 The workday shall begin for those teachers who have assigned duties at a time consistent with the individual schedules of each building. Those teachers who do not have duties before the start of the school day shall be required to report twenty (20) minutes prior to the first schedule...
TEACHER EMPLOYMENT. A. Full credit will be given for previous outside teaching experience upon initial employment. Additional credit for compulsory military experience which interrupted teaching and not to exceed two (2) years for Action Corps teaching will be given upon initial employment.
B. 1. Teachers with previous teaching experience in the Danvers School System will, upon returning to the system, receive full credit on the salary schedule for all outside teacher experience, compulsory military experience which interrupted teaching, and Action Corps teaching, up to the maximum set forth in Section A above. Teachers who have not been engaged in teaching on a full-time basis will, upon returning to the system, be restored to the next position on the salary schedule above that at which they left.
TEACHER EMPLOYMENT. A. Increments as indicated on the salary schedule shall be granted in accord- ance with Board Policy and the Statutes.
B. Teachers shall be notified of their employment status no later than the date specified in the New Jersey Statutes and Codes. Signed contracts shall be returned no later than thirty (30) days after the date on which they are is- sued.
C. Tenured teachers may terminate their employment with the Board of Edu- cation by presenting sixty (60) calendar days notice in writing.
TEACHER EMPLOYMENT. For purposes of this article, a transfer refers to a teacher moving from one building or specialized department to another. Assignment refers to the specific grade or subject that a teacher is scheduled to teach by the building principal or department administrator.
A. As a minimum requirement, the Board shall hire teachers who possess a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution of higher education and a valid Michigan provisional, continuing, professional or permanent teacher certificate. When, following an extensive and affirmative recruitment program, teachers holding provisional, professional or continuing certificates cannot be found for vocational programs which have been approved by the Michigan Department of Education, the Board may employ persons holding temporary vocational authorization or full vocational authorizations issued by the Michigan State Board of Education. At least ten (10) days prior to such employment, the Board shall notify the Association of its intent to employ a teacher without provisional, professional or continuing certification and of the recruitment activities undertaken. In unusual cases, where teachers holding temporary or full vocational authorizations cannot be found for vocational programs approved by the Michigan Department of Education, upon ten (10) days notice to the Association as above, the Board may employ persons who qualify for an annual vocational authorization. Such persons shall be employed on a temporary basis only and shall be replaced by persons with provisional certificates, professional, continuing certificates, temporary vocational authorizations or full vocational authorizations as such persons are identified. In this regard, the Board agrees to pursue a continuing recruitment program.
B. Teachers will not be assigned outside the scope of their teaching certificates. Further, assignments must meet the federal “No Child Left Behind” standard for “highly qualified” at all grade levels.
C. The Board agrees to adhere to its present policy of hiring and assigning teachers without discrimination as to race, creed, religion, color, national origin, sex, age, marital status or disability.
TEACHER EMPLOYMENT. 1. The Board and the Association agree that the strength of the school system is based on the employing and retaining the best teachers for all positions.
2. All new teachers or reinstated teachers will be placed on the proper step of the salary schedule according to their experience and education.
3. Any teacher will be informed of his/her current certification status upon written request.
4. Previously accumulated unused sick leave days will be restored to all returning teachers.
5. A teacher with less than five (5) months of experience will be placed on a half-step. A teacher with five (5) or more months of experience will be placed on the next full step.
6. Leave benefits and salary shall be calculated on a prorated basis for part-time teachers. Regularly employed teachers who are assigned a minimum of one-half day per school day shall be eligible for full insurance benefits. The intent of this statement will not be to reduce the number of full-time instructional staff.
7. Trades and industry teachers who are within three semester hours of completing standard professional certificate requirements shall be paid on the standard professional scale for one year to give them an opportunity to qualify for the standard professional certificate.
TEACHER EMPLOYMENT. A. At the time of initial employment, each teacher shall be assigned a step on the salary scale determined by his/her previous education and experience. For this purpose, consideration may be given to previous teaching experience, military service, and other experience directly related to his/her teaching assignment.
TEACHER EMPLOYMENT. A. Teachers returning to full time employment from an authorized leave of absence from the schools of this district shall upon returning to the system receive one year credit on the salary schedule for each year of military experience to a maximum of four years. Alternative Civilian service such as Peace Corps or VISTA at National Training Corps may be considered for credit on the recommendation of the Superintendent and the approval of the Board.
B. Tenured teachers shall be notified in writing of their contract and salary status for the ensuing year according to law, if negotiations are completed. Non-tenured teachers shall be notified in writing according to law of their status.
C. Previously accumulated unused sick leave days will be restored to all teachers returning from an approved leave of absence.
TEACHER EMPLOYMENT. A. Teachers shall be notified of their contract status for the ensuing year consistent with the appropriate New Jersey State Education Statute. Teacher assistants shall be notified of their contract status for the ensuing year no later than July 15.
B. Teachers shall be advised of Extended School Year School status by May 30th.
C. No teacher shall be discharged, reduced in rank, compensation, or disciplined without just cause. Teacher Assistants are included in this paragraph, provided however, they grieve such actions to Board level no later than July 15. Teacher assistants may not appeal any grievance under this provision to arbitration.
