The Committee agrees that up to three (3) teachers designated by the Association will, upon request, be granted a leave of absence for up to two (2) years without pay for the purpose of engaging in Association (local, state or national) activities. Upon return from such leave, a teacher will be considered as if they were actively employed by the Committee during the leave and will be placed on the salary schedule at the level they would have achieved if the teacher had not been absent.

A teacher on such leave will be advanced accordingly on the salary schedule if his activity while on such leave has relevance to the Marblehead Public Schools.

EXTENDED LEAVES OF ABSENCE WITHOUT PAY. A. All extended leaves for employees will be considered on a case-by-case basis by the Board of Education. The employee interested in obtaining an extended leave, should apply to the Board in writing. The application should be forwarded to the Office of the Superintendent of Schools no later than ninety (90) days before the employee wishes to commence his or her leave. The employee should state on the application, the date the leave is to commence, the reason for the leave and the length of the leave requested.
