PROFESSIONAL TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT. 35.01 The University agrees to xxxxx XXXX employees, at a mutual agreeable time, two (2) mini-conferences, consisting of one-half (1/2) day each, with no loss in pay, to be organized by the Union and Human Resources. The University will contribute up to fifteen hundred dollars ($1,500) for each session per year towards the cost of these sessions. Attendance will be taken at these sessions. It is understood that Security Guards who are scheduled to work on the days of the conference will not be able to attend.
35.02 Employees who have been requested by the University to attend French or English language courses offered by the University will not be required to make up the time spent attending these courses.
35.03 Employees will be reimbursed for successful completion of any skills-upgrading courses from an accredited institution, previously approved by Human Resources. Should the employee be denied approval, he/she may appeal according to Article 17.07.
35.04 Employees will be required to submit appropriate receipts for reimbursement, with proof of successful completion of the program.
35.05 The University and Union will jointly review which positions within the bargaining unit, in the MPR-OPS unit, and the Security Guard group (full time and part time), require formal licenses, certificates, and medical examinations on an ongoing basis, for an employee to do their work in their present job (except for Class G Driver’s license). The licenses must be ones requiring ongoing renewal, not one-time licensing, except where required by the University. Once the potential costs and liabilities have been established, the University and Union will meet to review this situation. An amount of up to three thousand, five hundred dollars ($3,500) per year will be set aside, and the University and Union will meet to review how best to distribute this subsidy.
PROFESSIONAL TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT. (a) The parties to this Agreement recognize that there are two types of professional training and development programs, namely:
(i) Formal programs - which include credit courses at universities or colleges or through correspondence, leading towards a degree, diploma or certificate.
(ii) Informal programs - which include non-credit training and development in the form of seminars, workshops, conferences or portions of conferences with educational content, conventions, symposiums, short courses, correspondence courses and field trips. These programs can include opportunities for an exchange of knowledge and experience with colleagues in the private and public sectors and other programs to keep up-to-date with knowledge and skills in employees’ respective fields.
(b) All training and development must be of a nature related to duties in the same or similar discipline of the employee concerned, or to duties which are performed in the Public Service. In both instances, the training and development must be directed towards an improvement of skills or knowledge which, in the Employer's opinion, are required or beneficial within the Public Service.
(c) The Employer agrees to consult with the Union to determine where training and development programs may be inadequate or inappropriate.
(d) The Employer will meet with employees on an annual basis to discuss career or professional training and development, including any training and development required to maintain a professional licence. Training and development programs can include opportunities outside of British Columbia.
(e) Where the Employer requires an employee to attend a training and development program, the Employer shall bear the full cost of the employee's training and development, and where the program entails leave of absence, such leave of absence shall be with pay.
(f) An employee may request to attend a training and development program which is not required by the Employer. The Employer may grant to the employee leave of absence, where necessary, with pay or partial pay or without pay, and/or choose to defray a portion of the cost of the employee's training and development.
(g) The cost of an employee's training and development, referred to in (e) and (f) above, includes, where applicable:
(i) tuition fees,
(ii) entrance or registration fees,
(iii) course-required books,
(iv) necessary travel expenses (minus travel expenses normally incurred by the employee travelling between home and the place of w...

When an adjunct is required by a college to attend a meeting/orientation/training, the adjunct will be paid a minimum of $100 for each semester (Fall and Spring). This is not intended to diminish payments made to adjuncts for meeting attendance benefits currently in effect at any college. It is not intended to limit the ability of any college to require additional training requirements. Staff Required Training. As a condition of employment and as determined by any College at which the adjunct is employed for the semester, each adjunct faculty member must participate and complete the training and orientation required of other employees at that College. Examples of such training include but are not limited to workplace safety training, sexual harassment and other EEO related training, new hire training and the like. Adjuncts will be notified in writing of the requirements, schedule and completion date for training applicable to the assignment as part of the offer of a teaching contract. So long as notice has been given, an adjunct who refuses or fails to compete this requirement by the completion date without a good reason, may at the discretion of the academic xxxx of the College be considered unqualified to be assigned further course until the requirement is met. MCCS also agrees to provide additional funding to adjunct faculty who provide additional work associated with the development of adjunct courses being transitioned to the Brightspace learning system. MCCS will ask approximately 50 adjuncts to assist with the transition to Brightspace and will pay each adjunct selected $200 for this one-time work. Hiring will begin prior to September 1, 2020. The final number of adjuncts selected, the course or courses developed, the manner of development and the specific adjunct faculty selected will be at the sole discretion of the college president or designee.

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT. Section 17.1 Employees attending training courses required by District policy as a condition of continued employment will be paid at their regular rate for all time in attendance plus any fee.
Section 17.2 Employees attending training courses or seminars requested by the employee and approved by the District will suffer no loss of regular salary if the course requires them to attend on their regular school employment time. Expenses incurred for transportation and/or training course fees and tuition will be paid by the District.
Section 17.3 District-sponsored workshops may be open to employees upon approval of the immediate supervisor.
Section 17.4 The District will provide a fund annually for training/inservice for members of this bargaining group. This fund will be ten thousand dollars ($10,000.00). Unused funds up to five thousand dollars ($5,000.00) will roll over to the following year and be added to the annual allotment. These funds may be used for staff development purposes only. Eligible expenditures, up to $250.00 per employee so long as funds are available, include:
1) Cost of hiring instructors/consultants to present agreed upon inservice programs/classes,
2) Registration, fees, meals associated with conferences or incurred in conference travel, and/or
3) Substitutes to release staff to attend training during the workday to attend pre-approved BASE inservice programs.
4) Cost of course-required book/workbook when used in conjunction with group or individual course funded by these inservice funds.
5) Registration procedures and reimbursements shall be administered in accordance with District procedures.
6) Payment of the employee’s time to attend pre-approved professional development including Purple Days, staff training or other out of district professional development. It would be the intent of the parties to regularly review staff development needs relating to specific job requirements. Representatives of the parties will then jointly determine the type of inservice/training approved, delivered, or made available to members of the bargaining group. The delivery of inservice opportunities provided by these funds shall not be in violation of Fair Labor Standards Act requirements for employee inservice.

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT. MidCentral DHB shall grant up to eight hours per annum professional development/ study leave to permanent clerical employees to enable the employee to attend approved courses of study, seminars or conferences or to undertake specific research on projects considered by the employer to be of benefit to the professional development of the employee. Such leave must also be of benefit to the organisation and linked to the employee’s Education and Development plan identified as part of MidCentral DHB’s Performance Management Programme. This entitlement will be pro-rated for permanent part-time clerical staff. PROFESSIONAL TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT. The employer may grant leave with or without pay and subject to terms and conditions specified by the employer to enable any employee covered by this Agreement to attend courses of study, seminars or conferences or to undertake specific research on projects considered by the employer to be of benefit to the professional growth and development of the employee and relevant to the work of the employer. The granting of such leave shall be at the sole discretion of the employer. The parties agree that ongoing education is of value to both employer and employee covered by this Agreement. To that end some DHBs have set aside a fund in each financial year. Leave will be provided in accordance with the employer’s policy. Any changes to the policy’s provisions will require consultation with the employees and the PSA.
PROFESSIONAL TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT. Executive shall be entitled to a reasonable number of paid absences for attendance of continuing medical education courses necessary to the fulfillment of medical licensure requirements as well as for participation in academic visitation tutorials or for holding part-time academic appointments to the extent such appointments have been approved in accordance with Section 1(b) of this Agreement.
PROFESSIONAL TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT. ATTORNEY shall ensure that each attorney providing services under this Agreement shall be provided professional training, and ATTORNEY agrees that the compensation to be provided to ATTORNEY includes an amount to defray such training expense. ATTORNEY shall require all attorneys performing services under this Agreement or any subcontract thereto, to obtain ongoing professional training at a level and at a cost which does not fall below minimum professional standards. ATTORNEY shall also be responsible for reasonable professional training of non-attorney professional staff.
PROFESSIONAL TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT.
33.1 MWHS Management and staff are committed to ongoing professional training and development for all employees.
33.2 All employees shall be expected to maintain and enhance their agreed skills, experience and professional development through ongoing training.
33.3 An employee shall be permitted by the employer to be absent during ordinary working hours for periods not exceeding a total of five hours in any week, with pro rata entitlements applying for part- time employees, without loss of pay to attend agreed training and professional development courses. Additional time without loss of pay may be granted at the discretion of the employer.
33.4 An employee shall be permitted to be absent during ordinary working hours without loss of pay in order to attend examinations necessary to obtain qualifications in such courses. The amount of absence shall allow three clear working days other than a Saturday or a Sunday for pre-examination study. Paid absences granted in respect to attend examinations shall not exceed six clear working days per year.
