Hours of Work Schedules. 7.1. The standard workweek shall consist of 37.5 hours of on-duty time. 7.2. The standard workday shall consist of 7.5 hours of on-duty time. 7.3. The Employer shall schedule the Employees' working hours. 7.4. If scheduling demands require a workday or workweek other than the ones indicated above, Employees shall be compensated pursuant to Article 10 (overtime). 7.5. Employees shall be allowed an unpaid lunch period of one (1) hour each workday at a reasonable time. 7.6. Employees shall be allowed one 15-minute rest period, with pay, at a reasonable time during each one-half (½) of the workday. 7.7. Management may require an Employee to secure prior written approval from the Employee's supervisor for absences from the assigned workplace that exceed one-half (½) day. 7.8. The creation and implementation of individual or group schedules that differ from the standard shall be accomplished pursuant to this paragraph 7.8 as follows: The parties acknowledge the following: 1. They are bound by this collective bargaining Agreement which remains in force. 2. Each party will benefit from a change in the current work schedule in certain work groups or divisions. Flexibility in scheduling work time can facilitate better productivity for both an individual and a work team. 3. Neither party intends that the provisions of this paragraph 7.8 will operate to increase the Employer's costs of operation or of providing benefits. 4. The goal of each party to this Agreement is to provide a satisfying work environment for Employees and excellent service to the public. For and in consideration of their mutual promises, contained herein, the parties agree as follows: A. This paragraph 7.8 applies to any Employee or work teams covered by the collective bargaining Agreement who choose to work assigned schedules as provided for in this Agreement. B. The assignment of work, and of work schedules, shall continue to be a right of management, except as modified by a collective bargaining agreement. This paragraph 7.8 will allow the Employer to implement, for the Employees, a normal work schedule that results in hours of work that are different from those set out above in Article 7 of the collective bargaining agreement. Participation in the new assigned work schedule under this paragraph 7.8 must be voluntary on the part of the Employee. Hours of Work Schedules. Except for emergency situations, the following shall be the established work schedule for the member of the Bargaining Unit working in the various Sections and Bureaus of the Department of Fire & Rescue Operations. (A) Fire Fighting Platoons and dispatch shift supervisors: The work week for Fire Fighting Platoons and dispatch shift supervisors shall continue to be the established schedule of twenty four (24) hours on duty followed by forty eight (48) hours off duty for an annual average of forty eight (48) hours per week. (B) Bureaus and office staff: The work day shall be the employee’s regular scheduled hours of work with a fixed starting and quitting time, and shall consist of consecutive work hours, except as broken for break periods and the lunch periods. The employees’ work week shall consist of forty (40) hours as determined and scheduled by the Chief of the Department of Fire & Rescue Operations. Starting and quitting times of the Fire Fighting Platoons, Bureaus and Offices shall remain as presently scheduled, unless operational procedures necessitate a change. Proposed changes will be made by the Chief subject to appeal as provided in Section 2125.49. 2125.51 Trade of Time Unlimited trades will be approved for each member involved in the trade, by their immediate supervisor. Trades within the Operations Bureaus may be consummated between members of like rank, one rank above or below the requesting parties party’s current rank. The Battalion Chief should be made aware of such trade and all members must be able to perform the duties of the member they trade with. Members shall also be permitted to trade with themselves. However, a self-trade shall not create additional overtime beyond what is forecasted. Further, a self-trade must be completed within thirty (30) calendar days. The Company Officer shall be responsible for the documentation involved in the trades and shall make the Battalion Chief aware at least 1 tour (3 calendar days) in advance of the trade. Any trade with less than 1 tour (3 calendar days) of notice must have the approval of the Battalion Chief.
Hours of Work Schedules. 7.4.1 The following positions will work thirty-seven point five hours (37.5) per week consisting of five (5) consecutive seven point five (7.5) hour days: Activity Director, Activity Support Workers, Supported Independent Living Program Co-ordinator, and Supported Assisted Living Program Co-ordinator. 7.4.2 These employees will be paid overtime rates for all hours over seven point five (7.5) hours per day or thirty-seven point five (37.5) hours per week. 7.4.3 Employee reporting for work on a scheduled shift shall be guaranteed the opportunity to work a minimum of three (3) hours at their regular hourly rate of pay. Employees may request to leave early.
Hours of Work Schedules. The normal business hours of the City are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, except: • Library hours may vary. • Parks hours include Saturday and Sunday. • Streets, Parks, Water, Water Treatment and Waste Water Treatment Department Hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. • Hours of operation differing from these guidelines may be established for any office or Department in order to meet the needs of the City and the citizens of St. Helena. Employee work schedules shall be established consistently with the provisions of this Article 5. The City will provide XXXX and any affected employee with at least 21 days’ notice before making a permanent change to the employee’s work schedule.

The regular work week for permanent, full-time employees covered by the terms of this Agreement shall consist of eight (8) hours of work per day and forty (40) hours per week. Section 17.2. Shift workers (Wastewater Treatment Plant only) are permitted to trade shift upon prior approval of the Supervisor. There shall be no overtime created due to shift trades. Those who trade shifts are responsible for transferring compensation due to the shift trade.

Hours of Work Schedules. 12.1 Schedule of shifts to be worked shall be posted a minimum of forty-eight (48) hours before the date of implementation. 12.2 The Employer shall assign shifts within classifications based on seniority, availability and capability to a maximum of eight (8) hours in any one day and forty (40) hours in any one (1) week for any individual employee. In the event that the parties agree to merge one (1) or more existing classifications into a single classification, the Employer will use their best effort in assigning senior employees' preferred work assignment provided they are capable of performing the available work. 12.3 Employees shall be available to work a minimum of three (3) days per week on at least two (2) of the following days: Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Employees may change their availability by providing the new availability in writing to the Employer two (2) weeks prior to the effective date of the new availability. An employee's availability shall remain in effect until changed in writing. 12.4 Employees may exchange shifts provided that notice in writing is provided to the Employer by both employees involved in the exchange forty-eight (48) hours in advance of an exchange provided that the Employer has approved the change and the resulting change of shifts does not create overtime. Such approval shall not be unreasonably withheld. 12.5 When an employee is called or reports for work on regular schedule and finds the schedule has been changed without proper notification (24 hours), such employee shall receive his/her pay for the regular scheduled time not worked, with a minimum of four (4) hours. 12.6 Time shall be computed from the time the employee is regularly scheduled to report for work, provided that the employee is available for work at that time. 12.7 No employee shall be required to work a split shift without the employee's consent. 12.8 Unless expressly stated in this Agreement, the schedules of hours of work and days of work shall not be construed as providing a guarantee of work or pay to any employee. 12.9 Employees reporting for work shall receive in any one day a minimum of four (4) hours' pay at the prevailing rate for that day, except for matinees where the minimum call is three (3) hours. 12.10 It is recognized that Management shall have the right to assign additional shifts subject to operational requirements provided shifts are offered on the basis of seniority, availability, and capability.
