UNION SECURITY AND DUES CHECKOFF. A. Union Security
1. Each employee now or hereafter employed and covered by this Agreement shall, as a condition of continued employment, within sixty (60) days following the beginning of employment or the effective date of this Agreement, whichever is later, become a member of the Union and shall maintain membership in good standing in the Union, so long as this Section remains in effect. Financial core membership, that is payment to the union of an amount equal to union dues without formal membership, shall also be deemed in compliance with this Article.
a. This condition shall not apply with respect to any employee to whom such membership is not available upon the same terms and conditions as are generally applicable to any other members of his/her occupation or with respect to any employee to whom membership is denied or terminated for any reason other than the failure of the employee to tender the initiation, reinstatement fees, assessments, and monthly dues uniformly required of other employees in his/her occupation as a condition of acquiring or retaining membership. For the purpose of the Agreement “membership in good standing” in the Union shall consist of the payment by the employee of initiation fees uniformly required of other employees of like status (unless such initiation fees are waived by the Union), plus the payment of dues (as hereinafter described) for each calendar month, plus the payment of assessment(s), within prescribed time limits, as may be levied in accordance with procedures set forth in the Union’s “Constitution of the Grand Lodge, District and Local Lodges, Counsels and Conferences.”
2. If an employee, who is required to become a member of the Union as provided in this Section, does not become a member of the Union within the time limits specified in paragraph 1 above, the Union shall notify the appropriate Company designee with a copy to the employee, that such employee has failed to become a member or maintain membership in good standing of the Union as required by this Section and is, therefore, to be discharged. The Company shall then promptly notify the employee involved that s/he is to be discharged from the service of the company and shall promptly take proper steps to discharge said employee as set forth in paragraphs 5 and 6 below.

UNION SECURITY AND DUES CHECKOFF. 1. It is agreed that employees who are now members or hereafter become members of the Union shall maintain their membership in the Union during the term of this Agreement.
2. It is agreed that all Regular bargaining unit employees, as defined in Article 1, clause 3(a), 3(b) and 3(c), will be required to pay to the Union, dues (or the equivalent amount) as a condition of continued employment. The University acts only as an agent for CUPE 793 in the administration of dues deductions. The University agrees to obtain a signed deduction authorization for the Union dues (or equivalent amount) at the time of completing employment sign-up procedures for all new regular employees.
3. Bi-weekly Union Dues Formula : Hourly Base Wage x Regular hours worked per pay cycle x Local 793 Rate % This is for each position as described in Wage Schedule I and II. The University will be advised by the Treasurer of CUPE Local 793 of the Rate % to be used in the formula. Such deductions from a Regular bargaining unit employee will commence from the first pay in which such employee received remuneration for a complete two week period and shall continue throughout his/her employment in the bargaining unit as outlined in the foregoing paragraph. It is also agreed that no regular bargaining unit employee will be eligible for membership or will become a member of Local 793 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees until completion of the probationary period specified in Article 8 (Seniority). It is further agreed that only those regular employees who have completed the probationary period will have recourse to the grievance procedure outlined in this Collective Agreement.
4. The University agrees to deduct from the wages of each Temporary employee (as defined in Article 1, clause 3(d) the same Union dues (or equivalent amount) as that paid by each “regular” bargaining unit employee. Such deductions for temporary employees will commence immediately and be reflected on the first pay, providing that pay is one from which Union dues (or equivalent amount) for regular full time employees is also deducted. Such deductions shall continue thereafter throughout such a period of temporary employment.

The total amount deducted in accordance with the foregoing will be remitted by the University, by cheque, addressed to the Treasurer and made payable to the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 793, by the fifteenth (15) day of the month following the month for which the deductions have been made,...
UNION SECURITY AND DUES CHECKOFF. Section 1. Employees have the right to support or join the Union, and they have the right to refrain from such activities. Union membership and union activities are voluntary and not compulsory. There shall be no discrimination or retaliation against, or harassment of, employees because of the exercise of their rights to support or join a labor union or to refrain from supporting or joining a labor union. As voluntary activity, union activities are not paid for by the College, except as otherwise provided in this Agreement.
Section 2. All employees who, following ratification of this Agreement become members of the Union, or newly hired employees who, after no less than thirty (30) days of employment, become members of the Union will, as a condition of employment with the College, remain members of the Union in good standing for the duration of this Agreement. For purposes of this Agreement, “good standing” shall mean the payment of periodic dues uniformly required as a condition of retaining membership to the Union.
Section 3. For an employee who chooses to become a member, the Union shall notify the College in writing of such employee who fails to remain in good standing and shall demand that the College terminate employment of said employee within fifteen (15) days of said notification. If during the fifteen (15) day period the employee pays the delinquent dues to restore good standing, the College shall not be required to discharge such employee. The Union shall indemnify the College against claims which may arise by reason of the College’s compliance with this Section.
Section 4. Upon receipt by the College of an executed dues authorization form, the College shall deduct from the employee’s pay every month an amount equal to the monthly membership dues and transmit the money thus deducted together with the completed check-off form to the Union on or before the fifteenth (15th) day of the month following the month in which the deductions were made. The Union shall certify, in writing, to the College, the amount of the regular monthly dues, initiation fees and assessments to be deducted under the provisions of this Article. Any changes in amounts to be deducted shall also be certified in writing to the College.
Section 5. For employees who choose to become a member of the Union, the College agrees to deduct from the employee’s pay a contribution to the Committee on Political Education. The Union will provide the authorization forms. Deductions shall be ...
UNION SECURITY AND DUES CHECKOFF. 7.01 The Employer agrees to acquaint new employees with the fact that a Union Agreement is in effect and with the conditions of employment as set out in the Articles dealing with Union Security and Dues Checkoff.
7.02 The Employer agrees to honour a written assignment of dues to the Union certified as the bargaining agent and, unless the assignment is revoked in writing, delivered to the employer, the money so deducted shall be forwarded to the Secretary/Treasurer of the Union, biweekly. The Employer will forward to the Union, with the first dues deduction cheque following the signing of the Agreement, a list showing the names and classification code, sex, pay range and step number of the employees from whom dues have been deducted and each month thereafter a list showing deletions and/or additions for that month, giving department and classifications. The assignment shall be substantially in the form as suggested in Sub-section 2, Section 7, of the Labour Relations Act, SN, 1977, C. 64, and shall be signed by the employee in the presence of a signing witness.
7.03 All employees who are at the date of signing of this Agreement, or who become members of the Union, shall remain members during the term of this Agreement.
7.04 All employees not members of the Union coming within the Bargaining Unit will, as a condition of employment, pay the monthly dues of the Union within thirty (30) calendar days of the signing of the Agreement.
7.05 All new employees coming within the Bargaining Unit shall, from their date of hire, become and remain members of the Union.
UNION SECURITY AND DUES CHECKOFF. 3.01 The parties agree to the following Union Security provisions covering all employees covered by this agreement;
(a) As a condition of employment, all present employees shall become and remain members of the Union.
(b) As a condition of employment, all new employees shall be required to become a member of the Union and complete an application for membership in the Union at the time of hire, and shall remain members of the Union.
3.02 The Company will deduct from the pay of each employee covered by the Agreement such monthly dues and initiation fees of new employees, as may be adopted by the Constitution of the Union as directed by the Local Union Financial Secretary.
3.03 All dues and fees deducted will be remitted to the Local Union Financial Secretary by the 15th of the following month along with a list of names and the amounts of each deduction. The Company will also supply a list of those members who did not have union dues deducted and the reason why no deduction was made. All new employees will be required to pay monthly dues commencing from the first deduction date following the date of employment. No dues deduction shall be made unless they have eared 40 hours pay in a month.
UNION SECURITY AND DUES CHECKOFF. 3.01 The Employer agrees that all employees as provided for in this Agreement shall maintain membership in the Union as a condition of employment. All new employees, upon completion of the probation period, shall become and remain members of the Union during the lifetime of this Agreement.
3.02 The Employer agrees to deduct Union initiation fee and dues from the wages of each employee, save and except probationary employees as referred to in Article 4. The Employer agrees to forward such initiation fees and dues to the Union’s authorized representatives.
UNION SECURITY AND DUES CHECKOFF.
A. It is understood and agreed by and between the parties hereto that as a condition of employment or continued employment, all persons who are hereafter employed by the Company in the unit which is subject to this Agreement shall become members of the Union not later than the thirty-first (31st) day following the beginning of their employment or execution of this Agreement, whichever is later.
B. The Company will withhold and deduct from wages due to employees represented by the Union amounts equal to periodic dues, assessments, and insurance premiums (not including fines and penalties) uniformly required as a condition of acquiring or retaining membership in the Union.
C. No such deduction will be made except from the wages of an employee who has executed and furnished to the Company a written assignment of such periodic dues, assessments and insurance premiums. Such assignment will be on the appropriate form and will, in accordance with its terms, be irrevocable unless the employee subsequently notifies the Company in writing to rescind his authorization to deduct periodic dues and assessments from his wages.
D. Deductions, as provided for herein, will be made by the Company in accordance with a typewritten deduction list furnished by the Union. Such list will be furnished on the appropriate form to the director, Payroll Operations, of the Company on or before the 20th day of the month, preceding the month in which the deductions listed thereon are to become effective. Thereafter, a list containing any additions or deletions of names, or changes in amount, will be so furnished to the Company on or before the 20th day preceding the month in which the deduction will be made.
E. Deductions, as provided in this Rule, will be made monthly by the Company from wages due to employees from a complete pay period in each calendar month in which the Company does not make deductions for health insurance and the Company will pay, by draft, to the Officer designated by the Union, the total amount of such deductions, and shall be paid on or before the 28th day of the month in which such deductions are made. (Health insurance deductions will be spread out among other pay periods in the month when deductions provided in this Rule are not made.) With said draft, the Company will forward to the Officer designated by the Union a list setting forth the deductions made and containing a computation of the sum withheld.

UNION SECURITY AND DUES CHECKOFF. 5.01 All employees of the Company will, as a condition of employment, become and remain members of the Union in good standing. All present employees who have not done so, and all future employees, will be required to complete an application for membership and authorization for check off of dues and initiation fees on appropriate forms supplied to the Company by the Union.
5.02 The Local Union copy of the form will be forwarded to the Union Chairperson upon completion.
5.03 All dues and initiation fees deducted must be remitted to the Local Union Financial Secretary in trust, within fifteen (15) working days of the deductions, along with a list of the names and amount of each deduction. The Company will also supply a list of those members who did not have Union dues deducted, and the reason why this did not take place.
5.04 For the purpose of this Article, Union dues are defined as the regular Union dues and initiation fees as prescribed by the Constitution and by-laws of the Union. The Union will provide the Company written notice of the amount of the regular Union dues.
5.05 All employees who pay Union dues during a calendar month will have the regular Union dues deducted and placed in trust by the Company until forwarded to the Local Union Financial Secretary within fifteen (15) days of the end the month.
5.06 If a member has not paid dues during a pay period in which dues are deducted, then an adjustment must be made on the next pay period, to ensure that the minimum dues are deducted during the month.
5.07 The Union will indemnify and save the Company harmless against all claims, or forms of liability that might arise out of, or by reason of, deductions made, or payments made in accordance with this Article.
UNION SECURITY AND DUES CHECKOFF. 5.1 - The County will deduct, upon signed authorization by individual employees, all initiation fees, dues, and assessments as certified by the Union, and forward same to the Union's authorized Treasurer each month. The authorization shall be irrevocable for the term of this Agreement.
UNION SECURITY AND DUES CHECKOFF. 6.01 Every employee who is now or hereafter becomes a member of the Union shall maintain membership in the Union as a condition of employment, and every new employee whose employment commences hereafter shall, within thirty (30) days after the commencement of employment, apply for and maintain membership in the Union as a condition of employment, provided that any employee in the appropriate bargaining unit who is not required to maintain membership or apply for and maintain membership in the Union shall, as a condition of employment, tender to the Union the periodic dues uniformly required to be paid by the members of the Union.
6.02 Upon request of the Union, the Employer shall deduct and pay in periodic payments out of the wages due to the employee, to the person designated by the Union to receive the same, the Union dues, assessments and initiation fees of the employee and the Employer shall furnish to the Union the names of the employees from whom such deductions are made.
6.03 The Union shall advise the Employer in writing of the amounts to be deducted under this Article from the employee's wages.
