PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL LEAVE. Employees who wish to apply for professional or personal leave, except where this leave may be granted by a director, supervisor, coordinator of student services, principal or vice-principal, must submit their request in writing to Human Resource Services giving as much notice as possible.
PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL LEAVE. Teachers who wish to apply for professional or personal leave, except where this leave may be granted by a principal, must submit their request in writing to the Human Resource Services Department giving as much notice as possible. If time does not allow advance notice, teachers are advised to contact their principal immediately for approval to be absent, followed by a written request.
PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL LEAVE. A. Accumulated sick leave shall accumulate to a total of ninety (90) days. Any teacher with a balance of over ninety (90) accumulated sick days at the end of the current school year will receive $100 per day for each day over ninety (90). These days will be paid out thirty (30) days after the current school year is complete. All teachers must participate in sick day buyout. B. Leave accumulated in the last school system prior to teaching in the Sunman-Dearborn Community Schools shall be transferred at the rate of three (3) days per year after completing one (1) year in the system until all such days have been transferred. C. Each teacher will be granted ten (10) sick days and three (3) personal business days. Sick days may be used for teacher’s personal illness, or the illness of a member of the teacher’s immediate family. Immediate family is defined as a spouse, son/daughter, a legal dependent for whom the teacher is custodial guardian, a parent or a relative whose permanent home is in the teacher’s home. Any teacher using more than three (3) consecutive sick days or using a sick day immediately before or after an extended break (Fall Break, Winter Break, Spring Break, Summer Break) is required to submit a physician’s note within two (2) business days of return.. Personal business days are to be used to conduct personal business that cannot be conducted outside of the regular school day, and may not be used immediately before or after an extended break unless approved by the Superintendent due to extenuating circumstances. D. The sick days must be exhausted before the teacher may use their accumulated sick leave days. At the end of the school year, any unused sick or personal days will become accumulated sick days. A physician’s note is required to use accumulated sick days for either the teacher or the teacher’s immediate family. E. Any teacher who has been certified by a physician to be unable to perform his/her duties for medical reasons, for a period of time extending beyond the teacher’s accumulated sick leave days, shall have a teaching position held for a period of time not to exceed one (1) full school year beyond the school year in which the disability was granted. During the disability a teacher may continue his/her group health insurance program by paying the monthly premium to the schools corporation’s central office. F. Time necessary to take selective service physical examination. 4. Court appearances as a witness in any case connected with the teacher's employment or the school. If the teacher is the plaintiff or defendant or is subpoenaed to attend any non-work related proceeding, the teacher may use PTO days for this purpose.

PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL LEAVE. Section A. At the beginning of every school year, each teacher shall be credited with two (2) non- accumulative days to be used for the teacher's professional business. Professional business days may be used for any educational purpose at the discretion of the teacher. The teacher planning to use a professional business day shall notify his principal at least one week in advance of his absence. Examples of professional business days are as follows: 1. Visitation to view other instructional techniques or programs. 2. Conferences, workshops, or seminars conducted by colleges, universities, and the MEA and NEA and/or affiliate departments thereof for classroom instruction. Section B. The Board agrees to reimburse the teacher for fees accrued for the above specified items in Section A. Section C. No more than two (2) teachers may use a professional business day on any given school day. Preference will be given to the first two (2) applicants. Section D. At the beginning of every school year, each teacher shall be credited with two (2) non- accumulative days to be used for the teacher's personal business. Section E. Teachers requesting extended weekends, holidays, or vacations may use personal or sick days. No more than two (2) days per year per teacher may be used for the above purposes. No more than two (2) teachers may use the extended teachers request the same day(s), the seniority list will be used, working from the top down. Once you have used the extended leave you will go to the bottom of the seniority list for that purpose. Section F. Any teacher called for jury duty during school hours or who is subpoenaed to testify during school hours in any judicial or administrative matters shall be paid in full salary minus any compensation received for such time spent on jury duty or giving testimony.

The Lincoln Consolidated Board of Education hereby recognizes the Washtenaw County Education Association, an affiliate of the MEA/NEA, as the exclusive bargaining representative, as defined in Section II of Act 379, Public Acts of 1965, otherwise known as the Public Employment Relations Act (PERA) for full-time and regularly scheduled part-time certified professional personnel employed by the Board of Education, including social workers, guidance counselors, school psychologists, certified librarians, speech-language pathologists, deans of students and nurse. B. The words "personnel," "employees," "teachers," "members," or the singular forms of the preceding, when used in this Agreement, refer to everyone within the scope of the bargaining unit, as defined above, unless specifically designated otherwise. The term "Association" in this Agreement shall mean, for the purposes of recognition only, the officers, members, and agents of the WCEA/LEA/MEA/NEA. The term "Board" shall include its officers, members and agents. The term "Superintendent" shall include the superintendent of the district or the superintendent's designee.
PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL LEAVE. A. The Board may grant professional leave days with pay, for members of the teaching staff to attend conferences, school visitations and meetings to improve their competency in their teaching field. Teachers will submit requests for such leave in advance, in writing, and accompany their request with a meeting agenda when possible. The number of leaves granted may be limited by the administration, when necessary, to assure reasonable distribution among the total staff within the approved budget. Written application for such visitation is to be submitted to the principal at least one week in advance of the proposed visit. Such application shall describe the place and purpose of the visit and the potential value to the school district. B. Teachers shall be permitted to be absent from their duties without loss of pay for reasons of personal business subject to the following conditions: 1. A maximum of three (3) days each year, not chargeable against accumulated allowable days of absence shall be granted. 2. Personal business shall be defined as bona fide business that requires the presence of the teacher, the times of which are beyond the control of the teacher and reasonably cannot be conducted at any time other than during the school day. 3. Requests for absence because of activities arising out of employment other than with the Richmond Community Schools shall not be approved. 4. Notification of use for personal leave must be made to the Superintendent or his/her designee at least seven (7) calendar days in advance, except in cases of unforeseen emergency. 5. Parties mutually agree that these days are not to be used as vacation days and shall not be taken the day before, the day of, or the day after a holiday or holiday break, or the day of Parent-Teacher Conferences, Records Day or Semester/Final Exams. Appeals for unforeseen emergencies may be made to the Superintendent. 6. A teacher planning to use a business day, or days, shall notify the Superintendent or designee immediately upon knowing his/her need to take a business day. 7. The Superintendent or designee may question the reason for the business day, if the principal/supervisor has evidence the teacher did not make proper use of the day.
