WORK SCHEDULE AND HOURS OF WORK. 12.1 The normal work year for full-time employees is two thousand eighty (2,080) hours to be counted for each employee through:
a. hours worked on assigned shifts;
b. holidays;
c. assigned training; and/or
d. authorized leave time.
12.2 Nothing contained in this or any other Article shall be interpreted to be a guarantee of minimum or maximum number of hours the Employer may assign employees.
12.3 The standard work week is forty (40) hours (two thousand eighty [2,080] divided by fifty-two [52]) with the understanding that shift assignments are made without reference to the standard seven (7) day period.
12.4 The Employer reserves absolute right at its sole discretion to establish or change work schedules and shifts without regard to usual or traditional practices. Shift assignments will be done by seniority on an annual basis and as vacancies occur.
12.5 Work schedules showing the employees' shift, workday, and hours shall be maintained by the Employer. Once such work schedules are established and until they are changed by the Employer, such schedules shall be the regular work schedule. The regular work schedule shall not be changed without a one-month (28 day) advance notice unless emergency conditions exist which preclude advance notification.
12.6 Employees will be allowed a fifteen- (15-) minute paid break for every four (4) hour work period worked, as long as they are available to work. If the employee leaves the work area, they must take a portable radio with them so as to be able to respond quickly to any emergency.
12.7 Dispatchers shall be scheduled to a forty- (40-) hour work week. Full-time dispatchers shall receive a thirty- (30-) minute paid break and an additional fifteen- (15-) minute break during their scheduled shift. The Employer may require Dispatchers on break to carry a radio and to return to their station when called. The Employer shall establish reasonable restrictions to the distance that the Dispatcher may leave the premises when on break.
WORK SCHEDULE AND HOURS OF WORK. A. A workday shall consist of eight (8) hours, not including lunchtime. The lunchtime must be adjusted to the building schedule, but shall be from four (4) to six (6) hours after the beginning of the workday. A work shift commencing at 1:00 p.m. or after, but before 1:00 a.m. shall consist of eight (8) consecutive hours, including one-half (1/2) hour lunchtime. If a situation arises that requires the custodian to take his/her lunchtime within the building, he/she will be paid for his/her lunchtime. The determination as to whether the custodian is required to stay in the building will be determined by the building administrator.

13.1 For purposes of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), the City and the Union hereby establish and designate a fourteen-day/eighty-six-hour work period. This designation does not impact any right that a sergeant may have under the contract to receive premium pay (also referred to as overtime pay) at one and one-half times the regular rate of pay for gap hours worked in excess of the normal scheduled shift. See Article XII, Overtime. Time spent participating in required training will be considered “hours worked” for purposes of the FLSA standard. If a sergeant participates in approved training, but does not exceed eighty-six hours worked in the fourteen-day period, the sergeant will be compensated at his/her regular rate of pay for the first six (6) hours of training.
13.2 There will be a base hourly rate for all officers. This base is determined by the hourly rate of the grade and step an employee is assigned to. This will be called the base hourly rate. Base pay for Canine Sergeant will include their base rate plus the additional premium pay for additional duties as stated in the contract. This rate is calculated by taking the monthly premium rate X 12 months divided by 2080 and then adding that premium rate per hour to the base rate. This rate is then used for their OT rate. Canine premium pay is 10 hours of overtime pay per month. Pay for Investigative Sergeant will include their Base Rate and a bi-weekly stipend. The bi-weekly stipend will become effective the date of the 2023-2024 contract ratification and will not result in any retroactive payment. Investigative premium pay is $1680 per year to start and $3600 after 12 months.

WORK SCHEDULE AND HOURS OF WORK. 7.1 Work Hours Generally, between eight (8) or twelve (12) hours of consecutive work will constitute a shift during a regular workday. However, shifts of four (4) hours may be scheduled. The regular workweek shall commence on Sunday at 0001 and will end on Saturday at 2400 hours. times a minimum of fourteen (14) workdays. The outbound week of the schedule will be published no later than midnight on Wednesday of each week. Every Employee shall receive a minimum of eight (8) hours in between scheduled shifts. For example: an Employee is scheduled to work from 1400 to 2200, the Employee shall not be required to return to guard mount until at least 0600 on the following day. Compliance with this section is not required in the event of an emergency, or if the Employee chooses to work by coming in early or staying after his or her scheduled shift.

13.2 There will be a base patrol hourly rate for all officers. This base is determined by the hourly rate of the grade and step an employee is assigned to. This will be called the base hourly rate.
13.3 The night shift overtime rate = base pay + night shift differential x 1.5.
13.4 Base Pay for Investigators, Canine Officer and Training Officer will include their Base Rate plus the additional Premium pay for additional duties as stated in the contract for each position. This rate is calculated by taking the monthly premium rate X 12 months divided by 2080 and then adding that premium rate per hour to the base rate. This rate is then used for their OT rate.
13.5 The normal work year is two thousand and eighty hours (2080) to be accounted for by each EMPLOYEE through:
A. Hours worked of assigned shifts;
B. Holidays;
C. Assigned Training; D. Authorized leave time.
13.6 Holidays and authorized leave time is to be calculated on the basis of the actual length of time of the assigned shifts.
13.7 Training will be scheduled for a minimum of three (3) or more hours except for firearms (pistol, shotgun and rifle) training, which will be scheduled for a minimum of two (2) hours or more. Mandatory training will be scheduled 14 days prior to the training by written notice.
13.8 Nothing contained in this or any other Article shall be interpreted to be a guarantee of a minimum or maximum number of hours the EMPLOYER may assign EMPLOYEES.

17.3 Pursuant to 29 CFR §553.230 – Section 7(k), the standard work schedule for Detention Officers will be based on eighty (80) hours in a 14-day period, coinciding with the payroll period.
17.4 The normal workweek for Dispatchers shall be forty (40) hours of work, as determined by the Employer, for full-time employees. This provision may be superseded if a 1040 Plan is adopted pursuant to 29 U.S.C. §207(b) of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
17.5 The Employer reserves the absolute right at its sole discretion to establish work schedules without regard to usual or traditional practices.
17.6 Work schedules showing the employees’ shifts, work days and hours shall be maintained by the Employer. Once such work schedules are established and until they are changed by the Employer, such schedules shall be the regular work schedule.
17.7 There shall be no additional compensation for on-call hours.
17.8 Employees may voluntarily switch shifts. The Sheriff or Chief Deputy shall be notified prior to any shift switching.
17.9 Employees have the obligation to work overtime or callbacks if directed by the Employer. Callbacks and court time shall require a minimum of three (3) hours compensation at time and one-half (1-1/2) rates.
17.10 Early report or extension of shift does not qualify an employee for callback or court time-minimum guarantee.
17.11 Employees shall be allowed one (1) hour of “on-duty” total break time during each shift. Breaks shall not be taken during the first (1st) or last hour of the shift without direction of the Employer.
17.12 When time changes occur in the spring and fall due to “daylight savings time” and employee shall be paid for the actual number of hours worked on a posted shift.
17.13 Full-time employees, based on seniority, shall have the first option over part-time employees to fill vacant full-time shifts, provided that the County does not incur any overtime obligations by virtue of a full-time employee’s exercise of said option.
WORK SCHEDULE AND HOURS OF WORK. 10.1 Shift, Work Day and Work Week
a) Unless otherwise agreed by the Union and the Employer, the shift shall consist of eight (8) consecutive hours of work, broken by an unpaid lunch period or seven and one-half (7½) consecutive hours of work broken by an unpaid lunch period. The workday is a fixed and regularly recurring period of twenty-four (24) consecutive hours and begins at 12:01 a.m. each calendar day.
b) The work week is a fixed and regularly recurring period of one hundred sixty-eight (168) hours, seven (7) twenty-four (24) hour periods and begins at 12:01 a.m.
WORK SCHEDULE AND HOURS OF WORK. Section 14.1 The UNION agrees that if there is a need for the COMPANY to have shift hours in the range from 8 to 12 hours, or odd hour shifts, such shifts will be offered on a bid basis, however it is agreed and understood the COMPANY will not establish more than ten (10) odd hour posts or split shifts, except in the event of an extreme emergency, unless directed by the Client in writing. Further, no full-time employee will be laid off as a result of the introduction of such schedule(s). No employee will be required to work in excess of 12 consecutive hours except in the case of an emergency.
Section 14.2 The normal work week is Sunday through Saturday. There are two (2) pay periods per month, running the 1st-15th and the 16th through month-end. The work day shall consist of a twenty-four (24) hour period beginning at 12 o’clock midnight (0000 hours) and a regular shift shall consist of eight (8) consecutive hours.
Section 14.3 An employee, whose scheduled shift starts on or after 7:00 p.m., but before 5:00 a.m., shall be deemed to be working the number one (Midnight) shift.
a. An employee, whose scheduled shift start on or after 5:00 a.m., but before 10:30 a.m., shall be deemed to be working the number two (Day) shift.
b. An employee, whose scheduled shift start on or after 10:30 a.m., but before 7:00 p.m., shall be deemed to be working the number 3 (Afternoon) shift.
Section 14.4 Employees will receive a thirty-minute (30) lunch break without pay each shift. Lunch breaks will begin not earlier than three (3) hours after starting time nor later than five and one-half (5½) hours after starting time. Employees who are working a 12-hour shift shall be offered (not required) to take an early/late lunch.
Section 14.5 There will be no split schedule during the life of this Agreement for full-time employees. Split shifts of at least 32 hours may be offered to full-time employees without affecting an employee's seniority.
Section 14.6 For the efficient operation of the COMPANY'S business, special shifts to cover mission requirements and temporary special shifts of not more than thirty days (30) for other requirements may be established from time to time unless a longer period is directed by the Client in writing. The COMPANY will notify the UNION when special shifts are required.
a. Normal work schedules shall be prepared for a twenty-eight (28) day period and shall be posted in advance. A copy of the work schedule shall be posted on guard mount bulletin boards. ...
