VACANCIES AND JOB POSTINGS. 12.01 Vacancies in regularly assigned jobs and newly created jobs shall be posted for three (3) working days in each work location on Employer bulletin boards accessible to all employees. Copies of such postings shall be forwarded to the Union Stewards. A temporary vacancy shall mean up to four (4) weeks. All postings shall indicate:
a. the job classification and job description and site (or sites if applicable) ;
b. the starting date;
c. the shift to be worked and the normal number of shifts per pay period;
d. whether permanent or temporary.
12.02 Vacancies within the bargaining unit will be posted for three (3) days on employee bulletin boards at each facility. The Employer will select employees on the basis of skill, ability, productivity and attendance and, when all else is sufficiently equal, seniority. If no suitable candidates are available, the Employer may hire new employees.
12.03 A posted announcement of the results will be made as soon as possible and in no case will exceed eight (8) working days from the date of selection. Notices of posting announcement results will be made in accordance with the provisions of Article 12.02.
12.04 Posted vacancies may be filled temporarily until the successful candidate can be transferred and trained to do the work.
12.05 If an employee successfully fills a vacancy as outlined in Article 12.03, he shall not apply for any future job postings for a period of six (6) months unless agreed to by the Employer and the Union. This restriction does not apply to temporary postings.
12.06 When an employee accepts a job posting, he shall have a forty (40) working day probationary period before the job becomes permanent. Either the employee or the Employer has the right, within the forty (40) day period, to return or be returned to his former position. During this period the employee shall be paid up to one dollar ($1.00) below the hourly rate in effect for the new classification or his current rate of pay, whichever is greater.
12.07 Vacancies that are a result of a posting, as set out in this Article, will be subject to one (1) further posting.
12.08 Employees who are on vacation, maternity leave, jury duty or approved leave of absence may indicate, in advance, to the Employer their desire to apply for a posting, if such posting should occur during their absence.
VACANCIES AND JOB POSTINGS. Section 1. It is the intent of this Article that Electric Division employees shall have preference over non-employees or City employees in classifications not covered by this Agreement, in filing job openings covered by this Agreement. When a job vacancy occurs in a non-entry level position within the bargaining unit but not included in the apprenticeship program and the City intends to fill the vacancy, the City shall post a notice of such vacancy on all City and Union bulletin boards within the City divisions covered by this Agreement. The vacancy notice shall remain posted for a period of at least ten (10) workdays and shall indicate the date by which interested bargaining unit employees must submit an application for the vacant position. The City shall offer bargaining unit employees an opportunity to apply for vacancies by posting in accordance with this Section, before such vacancies are advertised to individuals outside of the bargaining unit. To the extent qualified bargaining unit employees apply for vacancies posted pursuant to this Section, those vacancies will be filled in accordance with Sections 2 and 3 of this Article. The City shall, in its sole discretion, determine if applicants for posted vacancies are eligible to fill those vacancies. Vacancies in the Lineworker III shall first be offered on the basis of seniority to employees in the Electrical Technician classification. Vacancies in the Ground Technician position shall first be offered on the basis of seniority to employees in the Electrical Technician classification. Further progression to the Lineworker II and Lineworker I classifications shall be in accordance with the Apprenticeship Program.
Section 2. Any employee within the bargaining unit who wishes to be considered for a position described in a vacancy notice posted in accordance with Section 1 of this Article must submit a written application to Human Resources by the date provided in such posted notice.
Section 3. If there is more than one qualified bargaining unit employee in connection with a posted vacancy, the vacant position shall be offered to the employee who has the highest degree of qualifications, knowledge, skill and ability to perform the functions and duties of the vacant position. If the qualifications, knowledge, skill and ability of two or more applicants are substantially equal, the position shall be offered to the bargaining unit employee with the greatest level of seniority.

VACANCIES AND JOB POSTINGS. 17.01 When a job vacancy or vacancies occur within the bargaining unit and the Employer intends to fill the vacancy, the Employer will post an announcement of such vacancy or vacancies on all Union bulletin boards. Said postings shall remain posted for a period of five (5) working days. The announcement shall contain the job title of the vacancy, a brief job description and the rate of pay, and the date of the posting and bid deadline date.
17.02 Any employee wishing to apply for the posted vacancy must submit his letter of intent in writing to the Mayor's office by the end of the posting period in order to be considered for the position.
17.03 If more than one (1) employee applies for a vacancy, the vacancy shall be awarded to the employee with the highest passing score on the qualifying exam as follows:
(A) Up to 25 points for seniority: The most senior applicant shall receive 25 points. Any applicant whose seniority date is three months or less later than the most senior applicant also shall receive 25 points. Other applicants shall receive one point less than 25 for each year they are less senior than the most senior applicant and 0.5 point less for any period of more than 3 months but less than one year.
(B) Up to 40 points for skills test: The test shall consist of an actual demonstration by the applicant and possibly a written exam by either in-house or outside testers. The 40 points may include up to 5 points for an employee demonstrating special skills or education.
(C) Up to 35 points for work record:
a) Up to 10 points for work attitude as determined by current supervisor.
b) Up to 10 points based on disciplinary record.
c) Up to 10 points based on attendance record.
d) Up to 5 points based on record of lack of preventable injuries or preventable accidents. To pass, an employee must receive a score of at least 75 points. If no employee applicant passes, the City may hire a qualified applicant from outside the bargaining unit. To be qualified, an outside applicant must meet the qualifications listed in the job description and pass the skills test taken by the employee applicants.
17.04 If the job is to be filled, the effective date of the promotion shall be as soon as possible, but no later than thirty (30) days after the selection has been made, and once the selection has been made, the Employer will notify all applicants and the Union President, or his designee, of the selection.

VACANCIES AND JOB POSTINGS. 12.1 Subject to the Corporation’s overall business needs, appointments will take into consideration merit, skill, ability and service time.
12.2 Permanent and temporary Employees, including part-time, desiring appointment to entry level jobs may forward their names to the Human Resources Department for consideration.
12.3 Vacancies in pay band one (1) and two (2), Clerk 3, Auto Body Repair Technician 1, Truck Driver, Auto Tradesperson 1, and Building Operator 1 are considered entry level, therefore shall not be posted. All Employees will be advised of Clerk 3 postings.
12.4 Vacancies and new jobs that are filled by transfer shall not be posted.
12.5 Permanent part-time jobs shall not be posted.
12.6 Opportunities for temporary employment shall not be posted.
12.7 Notwithstanding Article 12.3 to Article 12.6, notice of vacancies and new jobs shall be posted through the Corporation’s online process not later than fourteen (l4) calendar days from the vacancy occurring.
12.8 Notice of vacancies and new jobs shall be issued through the Human Resources Department and posted for five- (5) working days, except where the Employer and Union are agreed that the posting period shall be reduced to three- (3) working days or extended to seven- (7) working days.
12.9 Provisional postings for possible vacancies may be made subject to mutual agreement between Management and the Union.
12.10 Whenever possible, vacancies for entry-level Management jobs shall be posted and applications received from Employees shall be given every consideration.
12.11 The Union will be supplied with a copy of all postings.
12.12 After a vacant job has been posted, no withdrawal of posting shall be made except by mutual agreement.
VACANCIES AND JOB POSTINGS. (a) Before posting, Occupational Health and Human Resources will examine all potential vacancies to determine if they can be used to accommodate a nurse who cannot return to their home unit in accordance with Article I.3.
(b) If a vacancy is identified as suitable for accommodation purposes, Occupational Health and Human Resources may recommend holding the position in consultation with the bargaining unit president or her designate to determine whether:
i) The unit can reasonably accommodate the nurse considering the number of accommodated nurses, operational needs, safety of nurses, and alternative resources.
ii) The posting of the position under the Collective Agreement may be waived. Such agreement must be in consultation with the Labour Relations Officer.
iii) A position outside the bargaining unit is an appropriate position for accommodating a nurse.
(c) The home position of a nurse requiring permanent accommodation may be posted under the following circumstances:
i) The nurse is permanently accommodated in another position.
ii) The weight of the medical evidence establishes that there is no reasonable prospect of a return to her original position in the foreseeable future.
(d) The Employer may elect to fill the disabled nurse’s home position on a temporary basis, in accordance with Article 10.07 (d) of the Central Collective Agreement. If it is determined that the disabled nurse will not be returning to the position, it will be posted on a permanent basis in accordance with Article 10.07 (a).

VACANCIES AND JOB POSTINGS. 16.01 Vacancies within the scope of this Agreement shall be visibly posted on the bulletin boards seven (7) calendar days from which the vacancy occurred and employees shall be allowed a further fourteen (14) calendar days in which to make a written application for such vacancy. The Company shall notify the Shop Xxxxxxx of all such vacancies, when the vacancy is posted and a copy of the posting shall be faxed or emailed to the Union Office.
16.02 New positions within the scope of this Agreement shall be visibly posted on the bulletin boards and employees shall be allowed fourteen (14) calendar days in which to make a written application for this new position. The Company shall notify the Shop Stewards of all such new positions when the new position is posted and a copy of the posting shall be faxed or emailed to the Union Office.
16.03 Vacancies and new positions within the scope of this Agreement shall be filled within a further seven (7) calendar days following completion of the fourteen
VACANCIES AND JOB POSTINGS. Section 1. When the Sanitary Engineer determines there is a vacancy in the bargaining unit, he will post an announcement of such vacancy or vacancies. Said postings shall remain posted for a period of seven (7) calendar days. The announcement shall contain the job title of the vacancy, a brief job description of the minimum requirements of the job, and the rate of pay.
Section 2. Any employee wishing to apply for the posted vacancy must submit his application in writing to the Sanitary Engineer by the end of the posting period in order to be considered for the position.
Section 3. The vacancy, if filled, shall be on the basis of knowledge, skill, and ability. In the event two (2) or more applicants are equally qualified in skill and ability as determined by the Employer, then seniority shall govern.
VACANCIES AND JOB POSTINGS. 1. Notices of all vacancies for unit positions will be posted for at least ten (10) days on official bulletin boards at each College and in the Office of the Chancellor before filling such vacancy. See Article 2.A. regarding temporary employees. If any information in the position description changes fundamentally during the hiring process, the position will be reposted for the full ten (10) days.
2. Vacancy notices will include the following information: position title; grade level; employment status (exempt/nonexempt); hours per week and/or months per year; what bargaining unit, if any, the position is in; job duties; skills, if grant funded, and other specifications required for the position as well as details of the application procedure.
3. Bargaining unit members who meet educational and experience requirements will be guaranteed an interview for the open position. Each employee applicant will receive a written notice regarding final action taken.
4. Any unit member who assumes a new position within the bargaining unit at any of the four colleges will retain benefits and seamlessly continue to accrue seniority.
5. A unit member of the Supervisors Bargaining Unit who takes a position in the XXX bargaining unit (and vice versa) at any of the four colleges will be credited with any seniority that s/he has accrued as a Supervisor and as a XXX.
6. The Colleges will provide to the Union a list of additional assignment contracts for all VSC employees on or about March 1.
