Day, and National President's Day. Food service employees will have Labor Day as a holiday if they have worked at least one (1) work day prior to Labor Day in the current fiscal year. Whenever a holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday shall be considered a holiday. Eligible employees shall receive one (1) day's pay for each of the holidays listed above based on their normal work schedule. To be eligible for the holiday pay, the employee must report for work both the regular scheduled day immediately preceding and the regular scheduled day after the holiday, unless he/she is on vacation, leave with pay, or is otherwise excused by his/her administrative supervisor. If an employee terminates his/her employment, all benefits of said employment shall cease on the date of termination. Eligible employees who work on a holiday shall be paid, in addition to their regular pay, an amount equal to the product of the hours worked and a time-and-one-half rate. When a holiday is observed by the Employer within an Employee's scheduled vacation, the holiday will not be considered as a vacation day and the vacation will be extended one (1) day continuous with the vacation.

HOLIDAY PROVISIONS. The Employer will determine the number of employee/s needed, the classification of the employee/s, and the duration of the work performed on Holidays. The Employer will first attempt to meet its Holiday staffing needs on a voluntary basis. Every effort will be made to provide opportunities to work on the Holidays in an equitable manner.
HOLIDAY PROVISIONS. A. When an employee changes from a 40 hour per week schedule to a 24-hour tour schedule, holiday leave time is not pro-rated. The employee will fill a Xxxxx Xxx slot as outlined in Article 9 of this agreement. D. Employees of the bargaining unit who work on a recognized fixed-date holiday, as noted below, shall be eligible for premium pay benefit of double time for each hour so worked. For purposes of holiday premium pay, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Labor Day, and Thanksgiving Day shall be observed on the actual calendar date on which the holidays fall. F. Compensation for hours worked on a fixed-date holiday shall be based upon the employee’s class rate, consistent with his/her average work week schedule, except when a tour trade is in effect. (Refer to Article 21 Trades, Section 2(E)) G. Premium pay for hours worked on a fixed-date holiday shall be limited to those employees whose scheduled shift begins at 8 a.m. on the date of the recognized holiday. H. In no event shall the premium pay benefit provided herein be pyramided with respect to overtime rates. Thus, if two or more premium and/or overtime pay provisions are applicable to the same hours of work, then that provision yielding the largest amount shall satisfy the requirements of all other pay provisions. HOLIDAY PROVISIONS. 25.1 The paid holidays are designated as New Year's Day, Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Xxxx Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, day after Thanksgiving, December 24 and 25, and December 31, respectively. Employees will be paid their standard hourly rate based on regularly scheduled hourly pay for said holidays. Food Service, Student Monitor, and Transportation employees will be paid for Labor Day should school start prior to Labor Day, or should they be required to attend a departmental meeting prior to Labor Day. 25.1.1 The six (6) days, which are not holidays during the Winter Recess period in the school calendar, will be deemed paid days off. In case of emergency call-in, the rate of pay will be time and one-half, except as outlined in 25.6. 25.2 An employee will not receive holiday pay for the designated holiday if s/he is absent without pay for any part of either the scheduled work day immediately preceding the holiday or the first scheduled work day immediately following the holiday, unless the absence is substantiated as reason of good cause, as determined by Management. This determination is subject to the grievance procedure. 25.3 When a holiday falls on Sunday, then Monday shall be deemed the holiday. When a holiday falls on Saturday, then Friday shall be deemed the holiday. When Christmas or New Year's Day falls on Sunday, then Monday will be deemed the holiday and Friday will be deemed the day before the holiday. When Christmas or New Year's falls on Saturday the Friday shall be deemed the holiday and Thursday will be the day before the holiday. When Christmas or New Year's Day fall on Monday, then Friday will be deemed the day before the holiday. 25.4 In the event that these designated holidays as stipulated in Article 25.1 are in conflict with the established school calendar, a conference will be called between management and the Union to arrange an acceptable compensatory holiday. 25.5 If an employee is required to work on any of the above holidays s/he shall receive his or her holiday pay plus double time for all hours worked. 25.6 Transportation employees transporting Xxxxx-Westland students to educational programs that are operated by other districts during the winter recess period will follow the school calendar of the district where the program resides.
