LEAVES OF ABSENCE
Sick Leave. A. Every full‐time regular employee shall be entitled to paid sick leave on the basis of one day per month of regular full‐time assignment.
1. Credit for leave of absence need not be accrued prior to taking such leave by the employee and such leave of absence may be taken at any time during the school year.
a. Unused sick leave shall accrue from school year to school year.
b. Teachers' accrued sick leave shall be recorded each year on the Annual Calculation Worksheet.
c. Employees shall be required to use the Aesop Substitute Placement and Absence Management System (Aesop) to record absences. All employees will be given instructions on how to use Aesop, as well as a login ID and PIN. Employees are required to enter absences into Aesop as soon as possible, but no later than 90 minutes prior to the employee’s report time the day of absence. Employees unable to enter an absence prior to the deadline, or if Aesop is inoperable, must contact Central Attendance directly.
d. Sick leave accumulated in another district shall be transferred pursuant to California Education Code for newly hired certificated employees.
e. An employee shall be credited at his retirement with credit for each day of accumulated or unused sick leave to the extent provided by law.
2. Female employees shall be entitled to utilize sick leave for the period of time required to be absent due to pregnancy or childbirth.
a. The period of the leave, including the date upon which the leave shall begin, shall be determined by the employee and her doctor based solely on the employee's physical ability to render service to the District.
b. A statement from the employee's doctor as to the beginning date of the leave shall be filed with the Superintendent.
c. The date of the employee's return to service shall be based upon her doctor's analysis and written verification of the bargaining unit member's physical ability to render service to the District.
3. If an employee's accumulated sick leave is used up within the school year, the employee shall be entitled to extended sick leave pay on the following basis:
a. The maximum period of time for which an employee may be granted extended sick leave pay shall be 100 workdays in any one school year.

Sick Leave a) An employee appointed as an instructor, a teacher, or on a sessional appointment shall have a sick leave plan under which the employee shall receive fifteen (15) days of sick leave credits on the date of initial appointment or subsequent appointment if there is no carryover as provided for by this clause, and thereafter shall earn sick leave credits at the rate of one and one-quarter (11/4) days for each full calendar month of service. In the case of teachers, the sick leave credit shall be earned in respect of any calendar month in which the teacher has worked. A teacher’s accumulated sick leave credit may be carried over to a subsequent term appointment if there is a break of no more than four (4) consecutive months. At no time may a teacher’s accumulated sick leave credit exceed thirty (30) days.

Sick Leave. Each employee hired prior to November 7, 1995, shall be entitled to start accumulating sick leave on the following basis:
1. Employees after one (1) year of service, 40 hours per year (5 days).
2. Employees after two (2) years of service, 48 hours per year (6 days).
3. Employees after three (3) years of service, 56 hours per year (7 days).
4. Employees after four (4) years of service, 64 hours per year (8 days).
5. Employees after five (5) years of service, 72 hours per year (9 days).
6. Employees after seven (7) years of service, 80 hours per year (10 days).
7. Employees after eight (8) years of service, 96 hours per year (12 days). Effective October 1, 2009, sick leave shall be cumulative to 2,722 hours (340.25 days). Employees must work ten (10) days in a month to accrue sick leave for the month. (Vacation, holidays and jury duty will count as days worked). All employees upon retirement shall have 100% of their unused sick leave converted to a cash account within a ledger, maintained by the Company. This provision will be effective as of October 1, 2009. These monies to be used to pay monthly premium on health insurance of employee's choosing for employee, spouse and eligible dependents.
A. When an employee is off work because of illness for more than one (1) day, his/her qualified sick leave pay shall start with the second day.
B. All qualified sick leave shall be based on an eight (8) hour day.
C. The President/CEO may approve paid sick leave up to five (5) days of sickness. However, if an employee is off on paid sick leave for more than five (5) days, he/she shall furnish the Company with proper papers showing that he/she has been attended by a physician and a release from his/her physician showing that he/she is able to return to work.
D. Any operator returning to work from sick leave shall notify the dispatcher not later than 11:30 a.m. on the date prior to his/her returning to work. Any maintenance employee returning to work from sick leave shall notify the maintenance supervisor at least one (1) hour prior to the start of his/her shift or assignment.
E. When it is proven that any employee abuses his/her sick leave privilege or if he/she should feign an illness, such employee is subject to discharge at the option of the Company.
F. If a holiday occurs while an employee is on qualified sick leave, he/she shall be entitled to sick pay, days off excepted, in lieu of holiday pay. If the employee has no accumulated sick leave and is eligible for holida...

Sick Leave. 5.01 a) Any Occasional Teacher on a long-term assignment shall be entitled to two leave days per month for personal sickness and/or quarantine, proportionate to the teaching time, during the long term teaching assignment. Unused sick leave credits shall be credited to the Occasional Teacher at the end of each month of teaching.

LEAVES OF ABSENCE
Sick Leave. A. Every employee will receive sick leave of eighteen (18) days a year prorated on the basis of one and one-half (1½) days per month accumulated up to one hundred fifty (150) days. Justification of excessive absenteeism may be required by the immediate supervisor. Employees may use up to six (6) days per year of paid sick leave to care for an immediate family member. For the purposes of this paragraph, immediate family member shall be defined as spouse, parent, brother, sister, child, grandparent, or grandchild.
B. Sick leave may be taken in full day or one-half (1/2) day increments, except that one sick day per calendar year may be taken in as little as one-quarter (1/4) day increments. Absence for employee for birth of child to spouse not to exceed two (2) paid days in any school year, except as may be required by law. In addition to the sick leave, each employee shall be entitled to absence with full salary not to exceed four (4) days for the death of spouse, child or parents of the employee, with such days to be taken either immediately following the date of death or contiguous with the funeral/memorial service (funeral leave days need not be taken all at the same time). For the death of any other member of the immediate family, this absence shall not exceed three (3) days. Members of the immediate family include: parents of current spouse, grandparents, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, and any relation who resides in the employee's household. Such leave shall be with pay. Upon request and in special circumstances, the Superintendent may grant such leave in excess of four (4) days.

Sick Leave. Paraprofessionals, XXXX/CDA and cafeteria workers will be eligible to accrue sick leave of up to ten (10) days a year, earned pro-rata monthly on the basis of a ten (10) month work year, and credited at the beginning of each month. Such days shall accumulate to sixty (60) days for paraprofessionals and XXXX/CDA and fifty-seven (57) days for cafeteria workers. Justification of excessive absenteeism may be required by the immediate supervisor. No more than six (6) sick leave days per year may be used for the care of a member of the immediate family, defined as spouse, parent, brother, sister, child, grandparent, or grandchild. Sick leave may be taken in one-quarter (1/4) day increments. Childbirth: Absence for spouse for birth of child to spouse not to exceed two (2) days in any school year. Funeral Leave: A leave of absence not to exceed three (3) days immediately following the date of death shall be granted to members of the bargaining unit whose spouse, parent, brother, sister, in-laws, child, grandparent, or grandchild dies. Such leave shall be with pay. Upon request and in special circumstances, the Superintendent may grant such leave in excess of three (3) days.

Sick Leave. A. The sick leave time off is to grant ten (10) days for the first year and all following years, and any unused days will accumulate to a total of seventy-five (75).
B. There will be a carry-over of accumulated total days for sick leave of seventy-five (75) days, to which the number of days allowed for the current year will be added.
C. For teachers new to our district, valid sick leave pay shall begin on the day following their contractual starting date.
D. A teacher with accumulated sick leave shall be entitled to have all his accrued sick leave available beginning the day an employee is due to report to work (effective starting date of contract), but payment could be withheld until such time as he presents his claim with supporting evidence of sickness.
E. Any teacher who has exhausted his/her sick leave may petition the administration in writing for additional days.
F. Emergency leave will be granted in case of death in the immediate family up to three (3) days time. Two (2) additional days will be granted if necessary but will be deducted from sick leave. The immediate family is to be wife, husband, children, mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, grandchildren, brother or sister of self or spouse. Further extensions deducted from sick leave may be with the approval of the Administration.
G. Emergency leave in all other circumstances will be subject to the approval of the Administration and will be a deduction against sick leave.
H. In addition to the sick leave described above in Sections A and B, each teacher shall receive sick pay of 66-2/3% of his regular salary for an additional sixty (60) days after his regular sick leave has been used as follows:
1. Teachers with sixty (60) days accumulated sick leave shall shift immediately to the additional sixty days (60) days (66-2/3% of pay) upon use of their accumulated sixty (60) days.
2. Teachers with less than sixty (60) days accumulated sick leave shall shift to the additional sixty (60) days (66-2/3% of pay) sixty calendar days after the onset of their absence caused by illness.
3. Sick leave pay is paid only for duty days and does not cover xxxxxxx or any non-duty days such as vacations, holidays, etc. Teachers with more than 60 days accumulated sick days will be given sick days in excess of 60 days available to them upon return from Section G sick leave or LTD.

Sick Leave. Certificated employees who work half time or more per week shall be granted sick leave and other leaves in accordance with State law. Sick leave for certificated employees shall be calculated by the day, or percentage thereof, as defined in his or her individual employment contract. The District, may in its discretion, require proof of illness when deemed appropriate, including but not limited to abuse of sick leave or false claims of illness. Monetary compensation shall not be provided for unused sick leave by the District. “

Sick Leave. A. Sick leave shall be defined as protection against loss due to accidents or illness, and not as additional paid holidays. The leave days may be used by a Bargaining Unit Member for the following reasons and subject to the following conditions:
1. Twelve (12) month Employees shall be granted twelve (12) days of sick leave per year to a maximum one hundred thirty-five (135) days. All other Employees shall be granted ten (10) days of sick leave per year to a maximum of one hundred five (105) days
2. Whenever an Employee leaves the Xxxxxx Consolidated Schools after fifteen (15) years of employment, the Employee shall receive forty five percent (45%) of his/her accumulated sick days paid at the Employee's current rate of pay.
3. a. The first day of absence shall be reported to the immediate supervisor or designated substitute caller at least sixty (60) minutes before the Employee's starting time. Failure to notify the immediate supervisor or designated substitute caller regarding an absence may result in the loss of that day's pay. However, emergency situations will be taken into consideration.
