WORKDAY AND WORK YEAR. 18.1 Workday 18.1.1 The certificated school-based workday is to be structured and directed by the building principal. For the certificated non school-based positions of Instructional Specialist, Program Specialist, and Behavior Intervention Specialist, the workday will be structured by the administrator overseeing the position, and consist of 7 hours plus a duty free lunch. 18.1.1.1 The certificated workday shall begin 30 minutes before the staff member’s first assignment, or 30 minutes before the teacher's preparation/conference period if said period is the first of the day. 18.1.1.2 The certificated workday shall end after the staff member's last professional assignment, or after the teacher's conference period, if said period is the last of the day, provided that the regularly scheduled duty and adjunct duty, if any, are properly completed. 18.1.1.3 The Semester Prep Day at the end of the first semester shall be a meeting- free day on campus. 18.1.1.4 All certificated unit members’ workday shall include a duty-free lunch. 18.1.1.5 Teacher Librarians or any unit member who works in the Library Media Center at lunch shall be compensated commensurate with the student contact rate. 18.1.2 The provisions of sections 18.1.1.2 above may only be extended when unit members are required to provide the safe entry and safe dismissal of students during a national disaster, student unrest, or school emergency. 18.1.3 In addition to the basic workday provisions described above, unit members shall be required to perform one (1) adjunct duty assignment. One (1) adjunct duty assignment can be a sequence of tasks adding up to approximately 12 allocated hours of duty in accordance with past practice. If adequate period substituting is available, those not wishing to perform a particular adjunct duty may satisfy the requirement by substituting for 12 teaching periods for semesters and 10 teaching periods for trimesters and 8 periods for quarters. The District shall make a good faith effort to distribute equitably the adjunct duty assignments among unit members at a given site and shall give priority consideration to employee preference for a particular duty. 18.1.3.1 If requested, a Special Education teacher will have all adjunct duties forgiven for the duration of the contract. WORKDAY AND WORK YEAR. A. All Administrators will be available within the school system at least during the normal teacher working day and at any times before and after these hours that are reasonably necessary to complete their administrative duties, be available to students and parents, or attend appropriate meetings at the Superintendent’s request. In any event, the Administrator’s workday shall not end prior to 3:00 p.m. and shall not be less than eight (8) hours. In accordance with the existing past practices, the workday shall be subject to the following: 1. The eight (8) hour work day shall be scheduled in good faith collaboration between the Principal/Supervisor and the applicable Administrators and shall encompass the normal teacher working day and times before and after those hours. In any event, the eight (8) hour work day shall not begin before 7:00 a.m. and shall not end after 4:00 p.m. If the Principal/Supervisor and the applicable Administrators are unable to agree upon the actual start and end time of the workday, the final decision shall be made by the Principal/Supervisor subject to the parameters that are set forth in this Section A(1). 2. Principals/Supervisors shall exert their best efforts to schedule regular administrative meetings within the eight (8) hour workday whenever possible. 3. A half day shall be equivalent to one-half of the normal eight (8) hour day. WORKDAY AND WORK YEAR. 11.1 Except as modified herein, the workday for bargaining unit members shall be 7 1/2 hours per day, or 37 1/2 hours per week of school-based or related District service, including a duty-free lunch period of 45 minutes. The teacher workday shall be structured and directed by the immediate Administrator in conformance with this Article. Teachers may be required, on an equitable basis, to provide lunch-duty supervision of students for any portion of the teacher lunch period described herein that exceeds 35 minutes. 11.2 Except on days of prior scheduled faculty and program meetings, the teacher workday shall begin not later than 30 minutes before his/her first instructional assignment and shall conclude no sooner than 25 minutes after his/her last instructional assignment. 11.2.1 In addition to the basic workday described in item 11.1 above, unit members may be required by the District to perform adjunct duties associated with the education profession such as 6th grade camp, parent conferences and other school and District-related activities. Additional adjunct duties may be required by the District provided the following guidelines are not violated: 11.2.1.1 The District shall have the right to assign any unit member to serve on one (1) District-wide committee per school year. 11.2.1.2 A unit member’s required attendance at said District-wide committee meetings shall not exceed thirty (30) hours per year. A teacher in his/her first or second year of BTSA shall not be required to accept said assignments. 11.2.1.2.1 If said committee meetings are held outside District boundaries, unit members may claim mileage reimbursements for any distances driven outside District boundaries. 11.2.1.3 For the purposes of this section, District-wide committees shall be defined as those dealing with activities and topics that involve more than one school, other than general or in- service type meetings involving more than one school. 11.2.1.4 Members of the teaching staff who provide the training to new teachers outside the BTSA support structure, shall be compensated at the task force rate of pay provided said training occurs outside the regular 7 1/2 hour workday and also provided that said training is in addition to the 30 hours that the training teacher is responsible for under Section 11.2.1.2 above. 11.2.1.5 The provisions of Section 11.2.1 above shall not prevent the District from complying with any state or federal requirements enacted after the ratification of this...

Tier I cooks will be required to work three (3) days before the start of the school year, Professional Development on Presidents’ Day and one (1) day at the conclusion of the school year. WORKDAY AND WORK YEAR. A. Workday The employees shall arrive at their first assignment at the same time as the employees of the district being serviced. The employees may depart consistent with the district housing their afternoon assignment. B. Work Year MCSEC certified staff will be paid based on a work year. The salary matrix (refer to item 7A) will determine the salary for that individual not how many hours or days worked. All teachers will be required to work the state mandated minimum number of hours per year with is 1116. Teachers will work according to their designated home calendar. An effort will be made to coordinate professional development with local districts. Professional development that is planned by MCSEC, outside the five school district calendars, will result in reimbursement for those attending. Paid work time will be provided to prepare for school openings. Any days approved by the MCSEC Executive Director, which are beyond the contracted days, will be compensated at a proportionate rate of individual salary. Half days will be compensated proportionately. Any stipend remains fixed and will not increase proportionately with any additional time worked.

WORKDAY AND WORK YEAR. Section 1. All employees will be hired to work either a 52-week year (261), a 41- week year (204 days), or 38-week (190 days) year as determined by the needs of the position. Any work that is performed beyond the normal 41-week work year or 38 week work will be compensated at that employee's normal rate of pay. All employees working in excess of a forty-hour week or an eight-hour day shall receive one and one-half time the contractual hourly rate of pay for such work. On those days when school is in session for only one-half (1/2) day, excluding curriculum days or other early release days, employees covered by this Agreement shall, at the discretion of the Superintendent, work only until twelve (12) o'clock without loss of pay. All employees who work in excess of four (4) hours per day shall have a paid duty free (1/2) one-half hour lunch period. On those days designated as curriculum days, members of Unit C may leave one hour earlier than usual, at the discretion of the appropriate administrator. All employees may leave one half hour after the students have been dismissed on Thanksgiving and Winter break. Section 2. In the event that any member of Unit C is absent from work for an extended period of time due to illness, vacation or leave, it is agreed that a substitute will be provided from the first day at the recommendation of the appropriate administrator.
